Well, I'm depressed now. My date with Mary is postponed now. She's sick. What the hell! I gave up cheap meaningless sex last night for nothing!

Nothing? Your sweetie is sick!

Won't she need chicken soup to recover?

She really is a sweetie. I can't offer chicken soup now though. The moment has passed.

You SO can!!

E.G. made major inroads with me when he showed up with a care package when I had to cancel 'cause I was sick. It had tea, flowers, Ricola throat lozenges, that sort of thing.

I agree, with the other women here, kicky. Do something nice for her today.

Bringing tea, ginger ale, some silly magazines, an offer to make toast and watch cartoons or decorating shows on t.v. - you'll be the star.

Depending on exactly what's ailing her, some type of Chinese or Thai take-away might help. If it's a cold type thing - hot and sour soup is nice. If it's a flu-y thing, take along a carton of chicken fried rice (nice and bland and not too tummy-upsetting).

Don't take flowers unless you're sure she doesn't have allergies.

I'd say no to the silly mags. The rest of Beth's list would make me happy were I the sickie.

o.k. - if Mary is really littlek, include some Science mags - but ones with more pix than words - reading when you're really sick can be too much work.

I'd like silly mags! Had an interminable wait at the doctor's office recently, but they had a new People, I read it cover-to-cover and was happy. :-) (This from a gal who NEVER has an hour to just sit and read without distractions, tho.)

Okay, or you could just e-mail it to me. That is, as long as you don't feel that would be too forward of me to ask, you sexy thing, you.

In case you don't like that idea, I predict I will be online intermittently between 6:00 PM EST and 9:00 PM EST tonight, and then I will probably be on again intermittently from around 1:00 AM EST until about 3:00 AM EST.
