@OmSigDAVID,

For me it's excellent reliability, increased capacity, faster reloads,
less bulk, better grip angle, less maintenance, easier to suppress...
I own a nice revolver, but my go-to hand guns are all .45 ACP semi automatics.

@spendius,
I disagree. My defensive revolvers r more powerful
than most automatics (ofen lower calibration, e.g. little 9mm).

For defensive purposes I use .44 caliber revolvers with hollowpointed slugs
for optimal energy-dump within the target; good stopping power.

People driving into crowds is about as rare as school shootings.

That said, more Americans Dying On U.S. Roads

@OmSigDAVID,
Revolvers are a hundred times or so more dependable then semi auto handguns and the one thing you do not wish to need to do is to clear a stove pipe during a fire fight.

This has not been my experience. Avoiding and clearing the rare stove pipe is quick & easy.

The good thing is that individuals like you and I have choices as to what hand gun we wish to own.

Quick and easy in a middle of a fire fight?

@H2O MAN,
Moon clips; I 've had automatics jam too many, many times.

Then there is magazine rotation; not on a revolver.

@OmSigDAVID,
No jamming problems with my Glock pistols and I've been shooting them since '86.

Magazine rotation?

@BillRM,
Did it go away with different loads? I have a PPK in .380 that has never had a malfunction of any sort. I have a similar PPK-S in .22 that stovepipes regularly with the standard loads, but not once with CCI Minimags.

@OmSigDAVID,
It has never failed to stop anything I hit squarely.

I think you get my drift here, David.

Two words for that [speed loader] and in any case if I can not take care of the situation with five rounds of 357 ammo the situation call for heavier weapons then a handgun of any type.

Of course I make a point to spend enough hours on the range so that I can hit anyone within 15/20 yards with almost every shot.

Once more if the engagement is beyond 15/20 yards I am using the wrong type weapon to try to deal with the situation.

Hell I have my model 1911A stove pipe on me more then a few times and I do not trust any semi-auto not to do so at the worst possible time.

@BillRM,
Agreed, qua most of what u said, Bill.
I c no long distance engagements in my future,
but (if u don't mind my asking) with .44 special
being available, Y 'd u prefer the lesser round of .357??

I like better STOPPING POWER.

I am in love with my S&W model 19 revolver that I had have for well over 25 years and who for some reason seems a part of me. My groupings at the range have always been far better then with any other hand gun.

I far prefer to have the maximum possible faith that I will hit what I am aiming for with a 357 round then perhaps miss with any other type of round 44 or otherwise from some other handgun.

@OmSigDAVID,
There is no need to rotate mags with a Glock.

These 3 are .45 APC
