Another major school shooting today ... Newtown, Conn

The mother of the student wounded Thursday at Price Middle School in Atlanta told CNN affiliate WSB that
her son was struck in the head by a bullet which exited. She confirmed the 14-year-old was conscious and alert.

Police detectives are interviewing the (14-year old) victim in the hospital, his mother told CNN affiliate WSB-TV.
He knows the assailant, who the mother said was "talking smack" to her son before pulling out a gun and firing, the station said.

This shooting was a targeted shooting that happened outside.
The school is a designated "Gun Free Zone" and the school has metal detectors.

This shooting is more like the daily shootings we see in Chicago, it just happened at a school.

I will be interested to see if the individual who did the shooting was a criminal...

I suppose there might be a 14 year old somewhere in the UK who has a gun. It's a possibility.

Let's see, the shooter is 14 and took advantage of the school being a 'Gun Free Zone' by bringing a gun on school grounds...

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities briefly locked down five schools in Lincoln after a shooting in a nearby apartment.
The Lincoln Journal Star (http://bit.ly/Vx2CCX ) reports the schools reopened early Thursday afternoon. Exterior doors were locked, but activity continued as usual inside the schools because the shooting was off grounds.
Authorities say a man with a gun and another with a baseball bat burst into the apartment where the shooting took place. One man was shot in the stomach, although his injuries were non-life threatening.
The suspects later escaped in a vehicle.

Police said the 15-year-old was taken to South Georgia Medical Center after the fight Wednesday afternoon. Valdosta police Cmdr. Brian Childress said his wounds were not considered to be life-threatening.

Childress said the 14-year-old was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

Childress told the Valdosta Daily Times (http://bit.ly/WC4NX3) that the two boys began arguing on their Valdosta City Schools bus. He said both left the bus and went to their homes, and the older boy then went to the younger boy's house and a fight ensued. Police say the 14-year-old pulled out a knife during the fight.
