For my personal home defense it's and assortment of .45 ACP pistols and a shotgun.

My wife love her riot shotgun and used to carry it in her plane and RV when traveling alone.

The point being there is nothing specially deadly about so call assault rifles that of all firearms call for some kind of a ban.

The number killed by guns since Newtown.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/crime/2012/12/gun_death_tally_every_american_gun_death_since_newtown_sandy_hook_shooting.html

Still on pace to hit the average of 11,000 gun murders in 2013. When will the "more guns cause less crime.' start working?

I can't imagine why you find any aspect of this topic--needless human deaths attributable to gun violence in our society-- "amusing". Yet you smugly continue to say you are "amused" in numerous posts. You have one sick sense of humor.

Nah ff. It's all pure posturing of the Hemingway style. Ask one of them to take a ride in the Grand National and they would bolt.

It's armchair tough-guy syndrome. In my experience it comes from wives running a number on them.

Sipsey Street Exclusive:

Thomas Nee, key member of Joe Biden's "gun violence commission," has a son who was convicted of
plotting a Columbine-style mass murder at a school -- possibly with a service weapon obtained from his father.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MJhXbANk56g/UOrsno6_DTI/AAAAAAAATwQ/4j8troAPhfA/s400/JosephNee.jpg

Joseph Nee, seen in 2004, convicted of masterminding a Columbine-style mass murder plot.

From COMMONWEALTH vs. JOSEPH NEE.
"In this case, the Commonwealth presented sufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant entered an agreement with Kerns with the intention to commit mass murder. See Commonwealth v. Frazier, supra. Multiple witnesses testified that the defendant either initiated or assisted in the development of an elaborate plan to "shoot up" the school. There was substantial evidence that the defendant prepared to carry out the attack by learning about and experimenting with explosive devices, and attempting to acquire firearms. Moreover, the defendant attempted to recruit Courchene and others to participate in the attack and threatened to cut out the tongue of anyone who spoke about the plan to the police. From this and other evidence, the judge could properly find that the defendant in fact reached an agreement with his friends to kill people at the school. See Commonwealth v. Benson, supra."

@ehBeth,

836 now

141 in about 3 days

right on track with the expected numbers based on fbi stats

not a huge fan of the article, but it has links to the cdc and fbi statistics on firearm deaths (intentional/non-intentional/violent/other)

It would be interesting to know if anyone has yet come up with any peer-reviewed counters to the Wiebe study.

Well I do not consider myself all that must of a dare devil more of a bookworm but for fun I used to spend weekends jumping out of perfectly good planes and then I move on to flying a 300 pounds ultra light MX up to a mile above the south Florida landscape.

Never did the Hemingway running with the bulls as I always found myself on the sides of the bulls.

Grand National? never been interested in racing except for cycling even if as a stupid young man I used to run my first car at over a 100 Mph once right pass the state trooper barracks on NJ rt 35.

ehBeth, it would be interesting if the criminals that
committed these crimes have been captured or killed.

Can you produce this information?

One word............SHOTGUN.......................far far far more deadly and I do not think that anyone would be happy if we see the use of pump shotguns instead of so call assault rifles in such killings situations.

The guy in Aurora did use a shotgun. For some unknown reason he changed to a different weapon. Maybe because a pump shotgun takes time to reload?

I guess you're not familiar with the Wiebe study. You wouldn't be talking about criminals if you were.

@parados,
Pay attention, learn something.

The evil mental midget that drove by Aurora theaters that allowed guns in order to get to a 'gun free zone' theater had at least 3 guns.
He emptied a shotgun, switched to an AR, it jammed (ARs jam)... he transitioned to a handgun or two.

Quote:
It appears, the police say the man accused in the Aurora shootings, used all three types of weapons inside the theater as well, first firing the shotgun, then using the semiautomatic rifle until its 100-round barrel magazine jammed, and finishing off with a pistol. (A second .40-caliber pistol was also found at the scene, though it was unclear whether it had been used in the theater.)

What in the hell is a 100-round barrel magazine?

I guess it's the reporters attempt to describe a drum magazine

@ehBeth,
Why do liberal democrats feel all warm and fuzzy when body counts are announced?

It reminds me of watching nightly news reports from Vietnam.
Have't you learned that reporting body counts only encourages evil?

The anti-gun people wish to have the largest mass body counts possible to support their wish to disarmed the American citizens and that body count better be from firearms ideally an assault rifle and not the many other manners of mass killings.

If those poor children at Newtown had been burned to death by some nut using Molotov cocktails it would had been a brief national news story.

Hell it would had been far less of a story if a shotgun had been the instrument that cause those deaths instead of an evil assault weapon.

What is this...a race to see who can be the most grotesque in depicting the views of people with whom you disagree?

I'd suggest you ought to be ashamed of yourselves...but I am beginning to think you people are incapable of feeling that.

@Frank Apisa,
So you are of the opinion if those poor children had lost their lives by any other means then firearms up to including fire bombing or an IED it would had been a 24/7 national news story for weeks?

To say nothing of a bus accident or some such happening.

@H2O MAN,
A gun free zone? Where did you hear the theater in Aurora was a gun free zone? Is there a federal law mandating theaters be gun free? I don't think so.
Is there a Colorado law mandating theaters be gun free? Not that I know of.

I am saying that you guys have gotten out of hand with the way you are depicting the anti-gun people. I thought that was pretty much what I wrote.

Frankly, I agree with your side that more legislation is not going to impact significantly, if at all, on the senseless violence in our country. I even agree with the notion that guns do not kill people...people kill people.

But things have gotten out of hand...and it makes no sense for reasonable people to just throw their hands up in the air and say, "We cannot do anything."

Not really sure how to deal with this issue...but for your side to be casting slurs at people who want desperately to do SOMETHING...is an affront to decency and intelligence.

Just sayin'!
