@ossobuco,
Murph's the same. He'll sit and whimper at a half opened door waiting for someone to push it open wider. The thing is, he could probably take the door off the hinges if he threw himself at it. He's pretty sensitive for such a big lug.

@Ceili,
So I should probably edit and supplant the names for Katy list.

That would involve finding the earlier post(s).

Some recent ones from me:
love love
dog dog, as in hey, dog dog
love dog
girl
fur dog
hair ball

from Roger: Miss Kate

She knows our voices and tones.

@ossobuco,
I met his sister today.

Sweet time. Bittersweet, but sweet.

For him to tell if he wants, or not.

@ossobuco,
Cheated death again, and made it home minutes ago. Glad to see the keyboard is working.

Sue was delighted to see Katy - as usual. She asked about the name on the new tag, so I told her it was the lady who "helped take care of Katy". She said she would like to meet her, and by a remarkable coincidence, there was osso right outside the door. They liked each other and got into discussions of shoes and dog care. I continue to be the guy on the other end of the leash. It was an excellent visit.

Thanks, ossobuco.

@ossobuco,
It was a felicitous happening that you needed to pass the leash to me and I told Katy to sit. Your sister saw that she sat.

Good choice as I am still rumbly on getting her to stay.

So today Ms. Bushy Butt has asked me three times to let her out to chase whatever it is (a lizard? a mouse? something she smells). It shows me how fast she can go and how far up she can leap. This is her empire and she wants out to guard it.

Ms. Bushy Butt, the name, reminds me of a certain Lady Plushbottom (was that on Abuzz or a2k?) Katy has fluffy skirts, and they're still shooting out white hair.

@ossobuco,
osso, Your post reminded me of a very old thread I started--2003. You'll see why when you open the link.

@Roberta,
Wonderful (I just finished the first page).

I'm compiling a list but have to refresh it, then I'll add it to the old thread. Roger now tends to call her Miss Kate.
Well, he's a gentleman.

We both let her stand and reach up with her paws to be held - this tends to happen with his visits to take her to see his sister. It is too dear to try to train her about it, I just don't want to and I remember how. Plus, she isn't a promiscuous jumper on people. Seems like trust.

@ossobuco,
I'm still interested in the short training course offered at petsmart. Just heel, and maybe sit and down. Won't be able to fit it in on the next visit, but maybe later?

@roger,
Sure! As you know I'm not as worried about those things. She's quite glad to sit and understands down, tends to do one before the other, which is ok with me. I would like to work on STAY. But such a session would be apt to be fun and useful. I was worried about heeling re possible loss of control in a confrontation (between my command and her avidity) until I got the good halter and the good leash - because of my weak thumbs (tenar muscle wasting). Thank you, Rags.

Good for you to be able to handle her too, and that we work out how we do that.

More than one session. Meantime, on the other side of this duplex is an entry to the walking area along Unser. I haven't braved that yet.

Time to compile a newer list.

Plus I have a few more in the last day or two -

dogdog
busybutt
Big Nose from Winnetka

That's in reference to her continued interest in some small creature she can smell in the sand.. I can't see it, but she hops along out the door to get at it.

So, hopalong.

@littlek,
Long story, but me too.

Bushtail is a wonderful dog.

She does bring a breeze in the house with her wagging.

Tailwind, that's Ms. Tailwind, is barksnortwhining about thunder that is closing in. She was warning me about the thunder past the front door, tail waving strongly.

@ossobuco,
I'm sure she's ready to defend you with her last breathe.

I've seen her do this. It's not really a threatening bark, so far as I could tell.
