As both a libertarian American and as a retired attorney,
I believe that the topic is interesting & important for several reasons,
not the least of which is jurisdiction over art, over free speech,
and thought control by government, in addition to whether

This topic, in my observation, is among the most hot-button
of America 's history including slavery, abortion, gun control
to give monopoly of power to violent predators (human & not),

Spoken as the elitist swine you continually appear to be....extensive skills to use language is for the most part a sign of schooling, not intelligence. Bill and I both took schooling for technical degrees, our ability to use language well was at the time considered not part of the skillset required to be an excellent engineer, thus no time was spent on it.
Luckily for me I am not an elitist, and I come from sturdy midwest stock where schooling was rarely obtained past the 8th grade but I was able to see by being around my family that intelligence is not a function of schooling. I found out latter that some of the dumbest folk around have Masters Degrees.

You know the number 70000 is likely blown up but even so if the numbers are anywhere near correct law enforcement should stop at once going after someone downloading CP on their home computers and used all the resources to go after the producers of this material.
No matter how many engineering profs you are arresting it a drop in the bucket that is not going to solve the problem in fact given the technology I do not off hand see any solution.
