@firefly,

You are damn right I think it is amusing in a sad way to have the concept of underage cartoon characters and having FBI agents and other law enforcement raiding some one home for downloading such material.
Can not wait until the first raid of someone home occur in the US with a full scale swat team similar to the ones now used for some strange reason when servicing CP search warrants.
Having the members of some family on the ground at gun point with the police demanding to know where are the drawing of underage cartoons characters doing the nasty are being hidden.
I can just see it what did you do to deserve five years in prison, are you a bank robber, a big time drug dealer, a collector of CP. No I am here for downloading cartoons drawings where the characters are underage and having sex.
Not everything that is morally wrong and in bad taste deserve the society wasting it not unlimited police and courts resources to outlaw.
The argument that pictures and videos of children being recorded in the act of being abuse being traded is one hell of an ongoing invasion of their privacy and can be harmful to their mental health and in some cases might create a market for further children being abuse carry enough weight that I am not against CP being outlaw. My only problem had been the insanely harsh sentences for this misdeed in the US.
None of the above apply to cartoons and the only argument for outlawing them is that they might encourage sexual abuse of real children.
Off hand I can think of any numbers of things that would just be as likely to encourage such abuse with my own pet pee being mothers dressing up children as young as a few years old to appear as it they are grown women and having beauty contests with them.
Still I am not for using the power of the state to outlaw such contests.
That the problem you take a good or at least an acceptable idea and go to such an extreme that it get completely insane.
We had already reach and pass the extreme in the US concerning the punishments such misdeeds call for now we are going to go beyond the extreme in making having cartoon drawing into being a very serous crime.
