I use American terms to discuss what is happening in the UK, and I am too parochial, but you revel in your usage of British slang and assume it's charming.

Your level of public services is unsustainable.

Your definition of the rich "paying their way" is for them to surrender their wealth. They are not going to do this. They will either emigrate to more favorable climes or hunker down and preserve what capital they have...no investments; no investments no jobs.

I seriously doubt that you have only had riots when Tories were in power, but if that is the case it's because the Tories have the unmitigated gall to recognize that there is no such thing as a free lunch --- Oh wait, that's probably an American turn of phrase, and in this thread we all need to speak the Queen's English or Cockney.

So they are going to take the factories and the buildings and shipped them oversea?

I guess they can shipped the machine tools oversea but the people who produce the wealth in the first place is not going to get on a ship with them.

Controlling wealth is one thing but producing wealth is another as it is the middle class and the working class that created wealth not the bankers or the CEOs.

Any funds/profits being removed from the country by foreign ownership can be tax on the way out the door.

Then sooner or laster the US funds will need to be spend for US goods and services and return to the US in that manner no matter how many steps it take.

China is owe a trillions dollars yet the dollars are just worthless paper in itself as for example it the GE generators for their power dams that the money can buy that have worth to them.
