@dlowan,
Well, it's mostly the two youngsters who create the havoc. They are less than a year old, so still qualify as kittens. I can't help but laugh at your deft descriptions of destruction at your house, followed by the innocence of angels. It's the innocence that keeps us from killing them. That's probably the case for babies of every species, incluing human.

Hey, Deb. How many milk teeth are left?

I DON'T KNOW.

The ****'s more under control though. They love their covered loos, and sebastians tummy has settled down and seems more at peace with itself and me.

@mags314772,
Innocence?

They've got you rightly gezumped, haven't they?

For instance, viola just got disciplined for scratching the carpet. She looked directly at me with evil in her eyes and did it harder.

Yours probably just want to get high on the glue you use to put the chair back together.

Did I mention Sebastian is partial not only to Chardonnay, but also to apple and a bit of orange?

I suspect cocaine would be his drug of choice, though.

You're right about the baby thing. It's why they're designed to look cute.

@dlowan,
Oh my. Watching kittens trying to problem solve.

Viola was playing fetch with her mouse...a game Sebastian always tries to cash in on by running after the mouse and trying to get it too...but he seldom returns it, which must drive Viola mad. Anyway, she usually gets it.

Last throw it landed on a chair in the corridor.

Both cats search desperately....but neither looks up. Viola comes back and searches where I am sitting desperately.....no mouse.....Sebastian immediately comes and searches the same places. They both return to where they think the mouse went, and eventually wander off and do something else.

I call them back and physically show Viola where the mouse is. Will on top of things occur to her now?

Cat IQ tests.

@mags314772,
I'm thinking I may have to put off choir joining. If they don't get lots of fun and attention EVERY night they seem much more destructive.

If it were on the weekend I think I could manage it....but Wednesday night....

Tell me they get better!!!!

@dlowan,
They do, Deb. They've both been altered, right? There is no destructive force greater than two kittens. But they will calm down as they head toward the year mark. Do you think you can bear it for the sweet moments they obviously provide you. And you will laugh about it. One time I got a pair of six week old ittens and shut them in my bedroom to go downstairs for something. I came right back: The lampshade was off the lamp, the phone was off the hook, and they were curled up on the bed.

Not to burst your bubble, but that was a human IQ test. "If we play dumb for long enough, will mommy show us?" You flunked the test by falling for it and showing them. Manipulative behavior like that is part of why I'm a dog person.

@mags314772,
I asked my friend who got a Devon Rex....she said almost nothing has changed and he is two years old!

They're a loony breed. Even though the two breeds aren't really connected.

Actually just checked....Cornish are generally MORE active!

They were better today.....I left a heater up higher for them, so perhaps that made them sleepier.

I am considering a cat wheel.

Be nice when I can take them outside when it is warmer.

Had to put Sebastian in his room tonight because he kept trying to play with the mortgage consultant and type for HIM, too.

Of course I can bear them! But it is like having a pair of monkeys.

Her Devon is resistant to discipline, too. He's her first cat (she's wildly allergic to most breeds) so she just thought CATS were unable to learn about boundaries and rules.

Why do they have to keep seeking out NEW toys? Tonight, while I snoozed in front of the TV they decided to get my spare vacuum cleaner bags out.....mind you I hadn't been able to find them....hope they haven't shredded them.

My friend suggested some hair ties were all the go at her place, plus a bag of plastic insects and spiders.

Have to warn the cleaner.

You're over-thinking it. You know? What you REALLY need is a good cat.

Who can help find a feline for Thomas? They'll round you out as a personality.

It was his room only because Viola hadn't been trying to play with the mortgage man. She was kind of upset when Sebastian was put in there, though. I think she felt safer with a stranger in the place with him there too.

@dlowan,
Sebastian is watching the computer as though it is television.

He IS learning something.....he's resisting swiping at the screen most of the time now!

Viola can't resist the iPad though, because she knows she can make it do fascinating stuff when she touches the screen.

This would be a good cat for Thomas:

@dlowan,
Ok...that was funny. Sebastian was avidly watching the computer screen and, when I turned it off, immediately ran behind it, as though to see if whatever was going on was still happening behind it....then ran anxiously around to the front again to see if it had moved back there!

Goddess help me if he ever works out the mouse.

@dlowan,
Love this. He's looking for the stuff on the screen. Where'd it go?

He ain't so dumb, looking behind the screen.

Amazing that all these cats don't seem interested in the mouse--computerwise, that is.

@dlowan,
Mine are addicted to the twist ties that come on bread. They deposit them usually in their food dishes. They love grabbing them off the counter and batting them all over the house.

@Roberta,
They had it down and dangling yesterday, but the computer was turned off.

I have to turn the screen off when I leave the computer on but am not there. I protect the mouse fiercely when I have it!

Sebastian is having problems with empirical research. He appears constantly surprised and mightily indignant that the same stuff he begs me to turn on so that he can play with it and watch it whirling down the plug hole WETS him, which he hates.

I agree that Thomas needs a cat! It would certainly improve his understanding of the world and those in it!

C'mon USians - get to work!
