I can when we weigh him at the vet next.

I’m hoping it’s the special annallergenic food he has to eat....he is NOT a fan.

I’m gradually introducing back bits of food he DOES like, but nervously

Don’t want to send his immune system crazy. We think that’s how he lost his eye.

And now the woollies are 11! It’s their birthday today.

Yes, they're really fine little animals; I didn't expect to find such fancy little guys at the shelter. I was only looking for one, seeking a companion for my ten-year-old (portrait below), but there was no way I was going break up this pair! It took a week but everyone gets along now. They're smart, lithe little creatures and into everything. Oh, did I mention, they're into everything?

Very sad to post that my darling Sebastian had to be euthanised on august 28th

He hurt his back somehow and it was gradually worsening so we decided to let him go while he was still feeling ok, albeit bewildered and impatient because his back legs weren’t working properly

It was the hardest euthanasia decision of my life but I am at peace with it, having received excellent pet advice and consultation with some of Sebastian’s loving special aunties

We did it at home and he was very happy to his very last moment of consciousness


He is sorely missed by me and Viola and a number of his special friends

Veterinary advice, not pet advice

Sorry to hear of this. I had to make a similar decision about a year ago. Sometimes, there is just no choice.

Seriously, my heart goes out to you. I’ve been there a few times with my pets.

It's always sad but it sounds as if it worked out as well as it could have. I wish there was a euthanasia-at-home option where I live. One of my favorite cats was absolutely terrified of the cat carrier and long car rides and chose to die on a long holiday weekend when the nearest open vet was an hour and a half away. I couldn't put her through that ordeal but I've always regretted not having an alternative.
