@Thomas,
Tenants have been thereb10 years....to my mind they have AWFUL taste...but all their stuff goes.

Theyve obviously enjoyed it there. they've been doingnsome painting and repairs to lowerbthe rent. sadly, they've been painting it PINK!

I wouldn't be doing art deco furniture. Not my thing.

Goodness knows what woollies are doing in my absence!

The new mice I bought are a hit.

@dlowan,
Oh you poor thing, Deb!
I've been there & done that & I know what it's like!
One becomes a bit obsessive.
So obsessive that I couldn't stop looking at the house ads well after I'd bought!
I hope this doesn't happen to you! Wink

Have just been to a unit in Blackwood....nice but tiny....

Is that still in the hills, or closer in?
Similar price range?

Enjoy your coffee break & I hope you get home soon! Smile

@msolga,
Awwww man.

Found something pretty special:

http://www.realestate.com.au/property-unit-sa-evandale-107466673

Bloody awful seventies at first glance.....but has an amazing surroundings. Reasonably close to CBD...rear of a big block of seventies stuff....but common areas are amazing mix of gums and palms and open space. Room for woollies to walk and sniff....lovely outlooks....unbelievably quiet......small but beautifully done...room for entertaining in rear yard, and it would look great once I had finished with it. Sadly, entrance to yard is via laundry.....would need to downscale furniture....no built in closet, but good built in storage. Bath, separate laundry.

Gums, boids, peace, but small.

This is Blackwood:

Bigger but currently way ugly back yard. Backs onto train line, which I love, but bad for resale. Seventies again, and smaller....except back yard.....which I could make lovely. No bath....... = : (

Lovely surroundings, but away from city......

I think you might have, Deb!

Looks very easy re cleaning & maintenance & I really like the view of the plants through the windows!
And it doesn't look to me that it would need any work done before moving in! Smile

Are you sorta interested!
Is it much smaller than your current place?

@dlowan,
I have to say woollies are increasingly lovely to come home to!!!! Having to get used to wee little voices, but so sweet when you get used to them.

Sebastian chats, but always sounds plaintive....probably isn't always.

Viola trills and mews when she can't find me.

So loving...even poor little doofus Sebastian.

Viola runs rings around him!

Not sure...depends on how you weigh what.

For the awful period it is amazing because of the wonderful gardens.

I am tempted, but need to balance that with rationality.

My current living room is way bigger, and the desirable gas heater makes it hard to place my furniture.

But LOW strata fees, the delightful surroundings, separate laundry........

Aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I would seem quite a rational choice to me, if it suits your needs, you can afford it & the location suits! Smile

I like it!

What have I left out?

Ah.
I know what you mean.
I had to sell my much-loved (original) deco lounge suite (what a find that was!) when I moved here .... it would have taken up 1/2 the house!
My/our previous lounge room was huge!

@msolga,
I can't tell for sure, but it looks like you have your own private courtyard area.
Would it be possible/allowable to have a small cat-run from the unit to out there?

@dlowan,
Have just taken a look at Blackwood.

A possibility, though a train line right near the backyard would drive me nuts.
It does look bigger & yes, you could have fun transforming the backyard into something nice for humans & felines. Looks good re cleaning & maintenance, too.

How far from the city are both places?

Oh I wish I was in Adelaide & could come house-hunting with you, Deb!
I love house-hunting.
Not so much house-moving, though!
You're giving me itchy feet.

@msolga,
Evandale further out than I am used to....but way closer than Blackwood.

Most folk would consider it near city.

House moving......awful. House preparation for sale....infinitely worse.

For sure!
I don't want to go through any of that, ever again!

So how are Sebastian & Viola on this wet Sunday evening, Deb?
I'll bet they're pleased your home! Smile

@msolga,
All very peaceful sitting by heater.
Viola waking up.

Sebastian has lost one of his milk fangs!!! I only hope the other goes the same way, and saves me a fortune. I am gibving him hard things to chew on instead of me.

He's actually beginning to resemble a proper, if fubsy, Cornish Rex, instead of a sheep! Viola still very sheep like.

So you've found the dried calf ear, then?

@msolga,
The dried calf ear appears to have gone wherever the crew of the Marie Celeste went!

I've been letting him chew on cutlery, of all things. He insistently chewed on the claw cutter handle, so I let him have at the damaged bone handle of a knife I have. Seemed to love it. I'll keep it handy. Better than chewing mummy....he clearly wants to bite really hard, if he doesn't mind such hard surfaces. I notice his gums around the bottom of some of his milk teeth seem quite red and angry, so I assume he is in some pain and the biting helps it. There's no nasty look at the site he lost the fang....all looks well.

They are both exquisitely relaxed....Sebastian on the wicker box in my computer desk...a favourite of both of their's.....Viola is curled up on the fake fur rug she used to hate.

There is something so absolutely soul nourishing about sharing time with happy cats.....(what do you think it is? I know you feel it!) they both react to me a lot when they wake a little...Viola with her usual joyous beaming and kissing....Sebastian by uncurling for a delicious tummy rub.

Viola is one of those cats who does ecstasy very well...whether she is retrieving her new favourite mouse, greeting me, running in front of me and throwing herself on the ground to roll around and show her little (pink) tummy, or just stretching out.

Sebastian does boisterous.....though he cries for affection, or just to chat, and often reaches out a paw to connect. Licking and chewing me is still his great love. Viola just licks.

Sebastian is heart broken because I took away his shells from the bath. I gave him a set of hair dying gloves in that little plastic egg thing they come in, which made him ecstatic again...but he took it out of the bath and lost it. I can see I will need to get a torch and stick and look under all the furniture!

He's decided chasing stuff around the bath is the best. He also cries for me to turn the tap on....moving water is his delight. I may bring one of my water features inside to see if he can enjoy without destroying it. They both like to drink water from anywhere except their bowl. Sebastian enthusiastically drinks any bath water he can reach...the same water Viola tried to cover up as though it were wee when she tasted it! The washing up is Sebastian's moment or utter joy...or one of them...as is teeth cleaning.

All this lovely peace bodes ill for when I go to bed...which will be soon....as they are going to need a major romp before they will settle again after all this rest. I have learned to take bangs and crashes in the night philosophically, as well as being leaped on and raced over at immense speed as I am trying to sleep.

The cleaner rang me to tell me how much she loves them! She's a cat lover who could never bear to get another after her beloved long hair died young, and she is entranced by Sebastian's boldness.

Viola still very shy...even for a brief time with me when I first get home...she has to be sure it's me and not a stranger. Given her utter wild abandon with me this all seems very odd...I hope she overcomes it...Cornish Rex are supposed to be social butterflies!

Can't get doofus to stop squirming long enough to be sure.
