@dlowan,
How far is it from the CBD, Deb?
I assume you'd have to travel to the city each working day?

The price is certainly appealing, but do you really want to renovate/update such a big place? Or more to the point, I guess, would that be affordable?

I have to admit, the house is kinda quirky & interesting looking in a deco-ish way , though.
And the possibility of gardens & outdoor space certainly appeals, too.

@dlowan,
I like that house. It looks like an individual. Like the little round windows. Like the living room. Seen better bathrooms (don't like the aqua).

@dlowan,
This is a fabulous house, with good, good bones! Extremely deco. No wonder you're interested. I'd go for it in a heartbeat. Yes, it needswork, but what doesn't?

@msolga,
It's actually not that big, Olga.

There's a living room and dining kind of separate, but with a big connection. There's two big bedrooms....one would make a great study/guest room. Then there's a kitchen, a bathroom and a separate loo.

@dlowan,
Whole load of kitten/cat/dog pix on hamburgboy's camera. Will download and share later.

Lester Pester (the Savannah) bunked in with me and the dogs last night. He's a lively fella - lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng legs in comparison to the other cats. It's going to be interesting as he grows into them.

That is an interesting house - and so totally different to what you currently have.

I'm jealous!! That price wouldn't get you anything within 100km in Sydney. 33km's is pretty good - although perhaps not for Adelaide. I lived further out than that here for a good while. ?some social isolation? What's the local demographic?

Would the woollies still be inside cats?

Apropos the long legs...when I got Possum he had big eyes, big ears and huge feet - he's certainly grown in /on to all of them! Shocked

Well that sounds a bit more manageable (in terms of renovation & upgrade costs), Deb)
Did I ever tell you that I'm a big deco fan?
I love that round room & windows ... outside & in.

@margo,
It's cheap for the area...which is worrying me. Though that area is further out than the desirable hills suburbs....the prices there are high.

I think the house is very quirky for the locale....so I am also worrying re resale. Its current presentation is awful, so that doesn't help.

The demographic looks very mixed.....I suspect numbers of greenies, there's tract housing going up in some areas, so there'll be first home buyers. Some pretty yokelly looking folk. Probably lots of city folk looking for a change of pace.

I worry about social isolation if I get sick and can't drive. No buses on weekends!

That's a big consideration. Don't want to be isolated from my old cronies when I get past it.

I'd get an outside run for woollies. They really feel the cold, so are sold as indoor cats. Also, I don't know how bird killing would go in the area.

No, I didn't know that. I haven't been in a big way, but I love the quirkiness of that place!

@dlowan,
There's quite a bit of quirkiness to be found in deco furniture & lighting, etc, etc, too.
I love it!

It sounds like, apart from your resale concerns, the house has been lived in by the same people for years ... possibly elderly ... which could account for the presentation & lack of upgrades.

@dlowan,
Wow! that has potential to be a great house to retire into.

Love the verging on deco-y look. Definitely one of a kind. With some renos that'd be a flipper's dream.

Yes. Good point.
Especially if you don't have use of a car down the line ... who knows?

I bought the (tiny) place I'm in now for that very reason. I'm within easy walking distance of just about everything, including public transport, market, supermarkets, doctor ...
Could've had a substantially bigger place a bit further out ... but chose this one for the sheer convenience of location. And the big yard (for a Victorian terrace) .

But all the same, I love the character of that house! Smile

@msolga,
Thanks, Olga! Not my style of furniture, but as a room it has potential. The only thing I don't like is the 33-km commute.

Off to something else.

Sitting in a cafe because of time gap between opens.

Sigh.

Need to go home after and do HOUSEWORK.
