I didn't like buying without being able to inspect the breeder and the kittens

I got a health certificate fRom the vet the breeder used, but......

I understand completely.
The check-up was a wise move in the circumstances, Deb.

I was also happy with their calmness in the surgery.

The sad thing is most of our pets only ever see the inside of a vet's surgery when they're ill or injured.

No wonder they learn to loath the experience!

Imagine that: yours actually had fun today! Smile

@msolga,
Viola hated having her throat looked at, but a few fishy treats soon had her happy again.

She had a bit to say about the thermometer up her bum too.

My animals are generally perfectly happy at the vet's.

Was Mikey ok?

@dlowan,
Mikey was taken in by the vet when a hysterical woman ran in and dumped him there. He never took in animals, but he took in Mikey. So Mikey lived with those folks at that place for a while. He didn't mind going.

The ones who minded were the vet's young assistants. He scared them. His size alone was intimidating.

I could go on and on and on about Mikey. But I won't. This thread is about the woollies.

@msolga,
Having finally been deterred....at least for now....from his unceasing mission to lick my face, especially inside my nose and mouth.... Shocked ......and then bite those places, Sebastian has finally settled down to try to pull the buttons from my shirt. Fortunately this is a shirt that was sewn seriously, buttons and all. The buttons laugh at this assault.

What IS this thing with licking and biting my face?

Woollies are voting with their paws on canned cat food again and are eating their Hill's science diet kitten crunchies. Actually Viola just came in licking her lips, so I assume the wet food has met with her approval. This is good because it has her pulverized immune boosting pill on it!

Given that she has had bits of my chicken, a heap of the vet's fishy treats and a decent portion of my chicken soup as snacks, I can attest that her appetite remains good.

Fish and chooks tremble when we walk past! As do vegetables.

Affection.
And getting to know you lots better.
And feeling very comfortable in his new home.
That's my guess.

But as he gets bigger (& remember, his teeth and claws will get bigger, too!)
You might have to resort to wearing protective clothing around the house.
Like a boiler suit, or something like that. Wink

@msolga,
He's been obsessed with this from the minute he arrived!

I assume it's related to how he did things with his mum....but it's really taking time to get him to understand it's not the go with me!

Viola tried it, but has learned very quickly.....it's more than a little weird.

He'll do it to my hands as a substitute....but the boy wants face!

It's perfect peace here right now....both woollies deeply asleep....pity I have to move!

The new toys are great....Viola even gets a go when sebastian hasvgiven up

Looks like you'll have to be quite a bit firmer with Sebastian about such behaviour, yes, Deb?
As he becomes bigger, it could become quite a problem.

Do you think Viola is a smarter, quicker learner than Sebastian is? Or perhaps responds more obligingly to cues from you?

I think they consider that part of their routine.

And their voices are so soft compared with a Siamese! I likely wouldnt hear their squeaks of protest.

They both talk a lot....but not loudly. Viola's voice and purr are a lot louder than Sebastian 's.

@dlowan,
Not so long ago a friend who lives in Italy & has two Siamese rang me.
My god, I know what you mean by noisy!
I could hardly hear my friend over the din.
What a cacophony!

Heh heh.....I love the Siamese voice, but I have had quiet Siamese each time, it seems.

I love the way they talk.

@dlowan,
I had four Siamese at one time...A Siamese female in heat cries just like an infant. Another penchant of Siamese is wool-eating. I had a lilac-point named prussia who would eat holes in socks, blankets and sweaters. I gave her back to the woman who gave her to me, and she bred her to a fine male. She had one baby..three days later, she ate it.

Oh dear.

My Oscar was a wool sucker, but he never ate a baby.

@dlowan,
Well, my friend spayed Prussia immediately and found her a good home.
Baby-eating is not, I think, that uncommon with cat mamas. Usually it's done immediately after birth, when mama senses something is wrong with the kitten. But three days! That blew our minds.

@mags314772,
I'm thinking maybe she licked and sucked the baby and one thing led to another without her actually deciding to do it as it were.

Oscar ate about a quarter of his favorite blanket before I realized!
