@the prince,
We just unpacked one the other month. We've been here 8 years. (I think there might be more...)

@the prince,
Oh my....got some done with help....most kitchen stuff in now. Still haven't found my vacuum cleaner or steam mop! All the books still to do and many mysteries to come. Can finally make coffee and tea!

Sebastian has finally achieved his ambition to find out what is under the drain hole thingies. He got the one in my bathroom off and is plumbing the depths asfar as his arm will go....looks odd.

@dlowan,
The kitchen is a big accomplishment, Deb.

Nice to know that Sebastian is plumbing the plumbing. What a guy.

Don't care what you say. I'm still thinking about you. So there.

Wow, a functioning kitchen!
You won't know yourself, Deb!
And tea & coffee on demand!
Major progress!
Excellent work! Smile

And the TV is connected & working?
Bet you're feeling good tonight.
And with good reason!
It must be feeling more like home by the minute!

@msolga,
Well....one of the things I know I can't make Boida do is stop thinking!

Kitchen is a right 'orrid mess....but I can plug away at it. I have potatoes! I have onions! I have dustpans and brooms! Some cutlery! I have lentils and nuts!
Tv and DVD player connected....still no remotes.

Was tired when I got home tonight....but got myself up and walked to the esplanade....very grey and ruffled. Found a ramp down to the beach (yahoo....I can't do stairs).....very joyful sight and only a few yards from where the street I use to get down to the esplanade finishes. I walked down said ramp and stood amidst the seaweed.

No more work tonight....I am sipping Sauvignon blanc and listening to the woollies make a weird noise....also they are clinking. Frankly my dear, I don't GIVE a damn.

Tomorrow more quotes for security doors and from the local handy people to do some handy things that need doing...will see what they can come up with re ideas for a woolly outside run.

Hopefully more unpacking and tidying will make things look better. Mind you there are way fewer boxes than this time last night.

Now Margo and Msolga....when do I see you?

Sounds like progress. Between 1970 and 1974 I moved house five times. I was young and strong and able to go with the changes with a positive attitude. The '71 move was out of NYC, weight of household goods about 9,000 lbs. Used a big, national moving company and filled 3/4 of an enormous tractor trailer container. The movers did all the packing and unpacking.

Moved back to NYC in'74. Would estimate weight of household goods as under 1,ooo lbs. Used a group called "Earth Movers", college students ( two boys, one girl, who was the sturdiest of the three ). They had a small panel van, and I towed a rented
trailer behind my elderly Chevy II. When I got to my apartment, my parents came over to help unpack the kitchen stuff, and we knocked it off that evening. The rest of the unpacking , finished within about a week . The apartment was pretty bare. Thirty-eight years later, I still live in this apartment . Don't have any plans to move.

I wish you many happy years in your new home.

@nextone,
I remember when moving was easy! A few friends, boxes in cars and furniture on someone's trailer. Easy peasy.

Woollies very restless this morning.

I finally realized they wanted their "TV" turned on!

The tv is the north facing living room window where they sit on boxes and study ornithology.

Assiduously.

Sadly this will cuse fights in summer when the north facing windows will be firmly blinded against the searing summer sun!

Well - if t'wasn't for the fact that I'm away off in three weeks, (and I've got a bloody Canberra work trip before then) I'd be down there this weekend! I could assist with the unpacking.

Back in November - and I want to go and see the pandas at the Zoo.

@margo,
You're only going os to avoid the unpacking!

November should be a good time....and I might have unpacked by then.

Man I'm missing easy access to good healthy takeaway. I have just had my second hamburger in a week. I haven't eaten one in decades. I need to get the kitchen cleaned up so i can cook and get some proper food!

Viola is obsessed with the window....
