@Izzie,
Lol! thats the ugliest cat tree I have ever seen!
I THINK I have turned some heating on, but it's hard to see.
I had a perfectly good heater that I assigned so cavalierly to the shed.....brrrrrrrrr.
The esplanade is more elevated where I am than in your picture Beth.
It's been a cloudy day and the sun was making the waves all silvery and luminous. I was too cold to get out of the car.....but it was very lovely.
I haven't FOUND a teapot yet Izzie.
Normally I am sensible and have a survival box packed with all such necessities. This is the worst prepared move I have ever made.....I ended up so stressed I sort of froze.
Woollies in a few hours! I saw a big tabby earlier....and there was caterwauling later on. I have small yappy dogs NEXT DOOR! However, they have only had two major episodes of cacophony. It's pretty bad when it happens....but I hope it won't happen too often. It's funny hearing things like dogs barking in the distance again. Love the bird sounds.
Have negotiated major local shops, which are nearby, twice.....because I forgot my money the first time. Major cultural change! but staff very friendly and helpful.
Hurray, Yay, Huzzahs. Happy, happy, happy for you. I'm channeling salty winds and surf noises....nothing better. Enjoy your new home.

A friend of mine has also just moved. Her big problem is she can't find her underwear. She has a pair and a spare (so, no worries, eh?) She knows it's all there somewhere - but where? I've been sick all week - but I'll go over tomorrow with a new pair of knickers - anything to help out, you know!
Don't forget you are allowed to relax a bit! Chill out - that's why you're at the beach (and prepare for an invasion!)
I have chilled....minimum unpacking last night, but I DID put some spare knickers where I could find them. No TV, can't reach it to turn it on and I dont know where the remotes are. No music...havent found music machines.
Margo, you're sick? Wassup? you feeling betterer????????
Soz and Nextone, thankee.

@dlowan,
Wakey, wakey, shine & shine, Deb!
Welcome to your new home .. your first Saturday morning!
Smell that sea air! Ahhhhhhhh!
Isn't it good?
Makes you feel like an invigorating dip in the ocean, doesn't it?
Ah the beach life!

Oh I'll bet.
Apart from feeling a rather stunned & stuffed, how's it going?
I'm really glad you have the next week off so you can take your time unpacking all those mystery boxes & putting everything where it should be.
But please don't try moving stuff that's really heavy .... (Maybe Google to find some local handymen for any big stuff that needs moving? )
You haven't said much about the house. Still like it? And have your rooms shrunk like mine did?
It'll be very interesting to hear about the woollies' first responses to their new home. Give them a reassuring scritch under their chins from me. They'll be fine, I know, as things begin to settle down a bit.
Here's a little something you you might (or might not) relate to. The end of episode one of Sea Change (blast from the past!) ... responses to first night & first morning in the new beach-side home. All those boxes! Just replace Laura's two wise children with your two wise woollies ...
Oh, one other quick post ...
You mentioned not being able to access your teev in an earlier post.
If that's still the case, here are the links to SBS & ABC repeats of recent programs, so you can watch on your computer with a vino later on tonight when you put your feet up. (You probably already know about these sites, but just in case ...)
No wine as yet....but I am living very close to the Southern Vales wine region!
At present, Ms O I have no computer access either...and mu iPad net connection is sporadic.
The rooms shrank at first but I think the living area is wider. When the boxes are cleared I'll be able to see if the dining table I have planned will be ok.
The sea air is freezing! I haven't felt cold at home since I moved into my apartment....now I'm cold! The house is easy/west, not north/south, so the heat dynamics are different. I am getting some sun through a N facing window as we speak....I'll have to discover how to manage all that as I go on.
The previous owner has been back twice to tell me about things, which is very sweet.
I'll have a beach walk this arvo.....i am kind of lounging now....then down for pussy cats.

Oh nice, nice!
You have my full interest!

Well damn & bugger!
But soon you will!
Sounds like a good time for some catch-up reading during the evenings.
And the radio! (Love ABC radio! )

Think of it as bracing, Deb!
You're still having problems sorting out how the heating in the house works?
But just think: when everyone is sweltering in the city in mid-January, you'll be as cool as a cucumber!
In the meantime, I recommend Explorer socks. (I have 8 pairs!) And lots of layers.
Bet you're looking forward to bringing the woollies home.

Yes, isn't it?
Just a thought, Deb: you might asker her/him for names of reliable local tradies, etc ? ... for your internet connections, & other stuff like that.

For the new home--tradition:
"Bread so that you shall never know hunger”
-“Salt, so your life shall always have flavor”
“Sugar and so your life shall always have sweetness”
Woollies home.....exploring happily. I have a feliway diffuser on to help them feel comfortable. My neighbor, Val, whose mother was a Lakota, has been in to give me a rubbish collection schedule and meet the woollies. She has told me there is an excellent handy couple on the corner, who give mates rates to locals.
Woollies have discovered that there is a constant bird show going on outside.
I havebdone very little unpacking....time was I would have been up all night and have finished it by now!
