@dlowan,
I don't quite know why, but Viola has become even more affectionate lately. Such a chorus of beseeching yips, trills, chirps, misty blue eyes, flirtatious squirmings, kisses and gentle pawings you never did see! And PLAYFUL!

The woollies have thoroughly conquered their new toy to make them use their brains and paws to get food. Time to unleash the next level of this beast....which entails pinning down the multiple little plastic pie segments they currently have to slide around to get their food with plastic "bones", which they have to remove before they can move the pie things.

@ehBeth,
I have tentatively arranged a play date for Viola and Sebastian with the Devon Rex belonging to a colleague.

Her's is an only cat, who has suffered in her recent split with her ex-boyfriend. Said ex has access visits at his home on some weekends! The Devon is missing his dad, who only recently became a full time worker, and is becoming overly rambunctious at home.

We have no idea how it will go....we'll meet on neutral ground in a park near my place.

We figure, even if they don't get on, that it will keep them all enter tained for a while!

@dlowan,
Deb, loving that Viola is so loving. Eager to hear about the play date.

I think I have mixed feelings about the food/puzzle thingie. As long as they're eating, I should unmix my feelings.

@dlowan,
Really. The Devon Rex's dad has become overly rambunctious at home. That may explain the split.

Cool

@ehBeth,
Beth, I believe he was, in essence, underly rambunctious.

Boida....they enjoy their food puzzle...it's like they're CATCHING the food. Very intense they are.

@dlowan,
So....we had pussy play date.

Went pretty well, all things considered. Elliot, my colleague's Devon Rex is calm and highly adaptable with traveling and with humans....a delight.

What I didn't realize is that his owner had no experience with cat adaptations to each other, and she actually brought Elliot INSIDE in her ARMS...not a container. I had expected to meet in the park. Naturally, Sebastian was shocked...Viola more philosophical.

In the park, Sebastian was quite ready to be friendly, but Elliot was grisly. Sebastian is a lot smaller and ended up quite nervous of Elliot....nonetheless both were very not bored. Elliot tolerated Viola quite happily, though a bit growly.....she adopted her quiet come closer slowly tactics, the ones she used with Miranda.

I was stunned at how well the cats got on but my colleague was disappointed because she had imagined them frolicking together in the park!

Elliot was having his first park experience and was very excited by it.

This is how I came to grief. He wass very friendly to me, but got himself too excited and attacked me when I went to pat him at one point. It was a very gentle attack...no harm done....but my colleague said that he often does that to her as his way of initiating play. We were chatting about how e obviously thinks she is another cat and he doesn't see her as being dominant, and I explained that sometimes that can be dealt with by treating the cat as his mum would...ie holding him by the scruff of the neck to calm him, and just insisting he stop attacking. This worked brilliantly the first time I demonstrated it on Elliot, but he was still over excited and attacked me again.

Now, I can't really explain this, but Sebastian, who had been nervously watching Elliot from leash length, suddenly came in from nowhere and threw himself on to Elliot and began fighting him! I don't know if Sebastian thinks I am part of his territory or what! I separated them easily but got a few scratches.

Dear little Sebastian!

We got them calm again, then Elliot was driven off, sitting up calmly in the front of the car like a little furry human!

All the cats certainly had a very stimulating afternoon.

Photos coming.

@dlowan,
Waiting impatiently for the pics, deb. Sounds like a great afternoon. Sorry you got wounded. Hey, Elliot. Behave yourself. Sebastian may have been eager to protect you. He may not view you as his territory. He may view you as his mother.

OK. That took me a while to type. Where are the photos?

@Roberta,
Oh man.....I just made an offer on a house near the beach, on our south coast.

I am mad.

This house in fact

I don't think they'll accept because it's subject to sale.

But still.....

@dlowan,
You're moving!? Is if far from where you are now?

Maybe it's a beach house and not a permanent residence. What's the story, bunny?

@Roberta,
IF it all happens....I have to sell my place and get finance...it's permanent.

It's about 25 miles away...you guys still use miles, right?

@dlowan,
Yes, miles. Major big thing going on.

If the home owners accepted the offer, what would be the problem? Financing?
