The only thing getting in the way of kids celebrating christmas is fucked up unemployment. Good thing, the GOP helped pass a jobs bill and an extension on the payroll tax break... oh...

@jcboy,
Newt is too stupid to become our president.

Significance Traditional birthday of Jesus

Christmas or Christmas Day is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ,[5][6] celebrated generally on December 25[2][3][4] as a religious and cultural holiday by billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide.[7] Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations,[8][9][10] is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians,[1][11][12] and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.
The precise day of Jesus’ birth, which historians place between 7 and 2 BC, is unknown. In the early-to-mid 4th century, the Western Christian Church first placed Christmas on December 25, a date later adopted also in the East.[13][14] Theories advanced to explain that choice include that it falls exactly nine months after the Christian celebration of the conception of Jesus,[15] or that it was selected to coincide with either the date of the Roman winter solstice[16] or of some ancient winter festival.[15][17]
The original date of the celebration in Eastern Christianity was January 6, in connection with Epiphany, and that is still the date of the celebration for the Armenian Apostolic Church and in Armenia, where it is a public holiday. As of 2011, there is a difference of 13 days between the Julian calendar and the more generally used Gregorian calendar. Those who use the Julian calendar or its equivalents thus celebrate December 25 and January 6 on what for the majority of people is January 7 and January 19. For this reason, Ethiopia celebrates Christmas, both as a Christian feast and as a public holiday on what in the Gregorian calendar is January 7.[18]
Many of the popular celebratory customs associated in various countries with Christmas have pre-Christian or secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, music, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations; including Christmas trees, lights, garlands, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. In addition, several figures, known as Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, and Santa Claus, among other names, are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season.[19] Because gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact of Christmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past few centuries in many regions of the world.

The lies coming out of Obama's mouth and from members of his administration are exceeding anything this country has experienced before. They are redacting and rewriting history as fast and furiously as they can to deceive the American people. Ousting this failed president and his administration is the only way this country can begin to heal and recover.

When did the ignorant become the judge of intelligence??? Is that like the blind leading the blind... How can your thinking, or want of thought be characterized... We all know that the government was designed to protect wealth against populism; but it left what was left of democracy no defense against democracy... It is like all purple eared republicans feel the need to injure themselves and the country through the vote in order to prove that democracy is and will always be unwarranted and unjustified... All they prove in electing idiots is that they are idiots...Every election is an intelligence test; and the only problem is that most people do not know what to do when presented with two wrong answers, and are told one must be right... Leaving the answer unanswered is the only alternative, but people always try to pick the least worst answer...

@cicerone imposter,
I would not call Newt too stupid... When those who may elect him are mired in magic and superstition, and alternatively sychophants and hypocrits; there is no way to be certain of who they will find worthy of their votes... They have to piss them away on some one... That is the choice we all have...

Another thing I learned tonight is that Huntsman doesn't subscribe to the republican KKK-isms so they will never nominate him, he will always be at 3% in polls because fairness and respect are 2 values republicans are unable and unwilling to understand.

How would you judge such a thing??? Some of our best politicians were idealistic and stupid beyond repair... Mr. Obama is formally smart, but because of his formal education thinks saving the economy which is destroying the nation is a good thing, and so is putting himself at odd with many traditional democrats and many republicans... The rich do not want to support the government that defends them and their plunder from us, but our knowledgable president has continued to bankrupt the government in support of them, when without giving us credit, they could not survive on the wages we cannot survive on either.... The whole situation with the economy calling the shots in government, with the people long denied justice in their work places now dependent upon government for their surviva,l and with government unable to tax the only people with money is too complecated for the formally minded president.... It is not just fact, but people, and all with their own vision of the meaning of the facts before them who must be united in thought to make change and cannot be united on any score who thwart any intelligence...The only good president would try to sweep the whole mess into the past, and no good president will ever be elected... We could easier start over than fix the trash posterity has left us, but no president will ever present that alternative to the government or the people... They will stuggle on at the helm of a sinking ship until we all go down with it because the alternatives do not present themselves to their formal minds as alternatives, and because no one will present the alternatives to them, because like minds think alike... They have become Roman Emperors struggling with their situation, but unable to become the masters of their situations because they were afraid, first of the Senate, and then of the Army, and in both instances, loyalty was bought and not bred...

They cannot grasp pragmatism or intelligence, but fear both... The whole process of choosing a candidate for the republicans is finding who cannot possibly be elected by the rest of the country... Never mind the election where the candidate will present himself in a pastel light while surrogates malign Mr. Obama to his face... This is where the election is being won, and lost, by the republicans... They are learning that in educating their rank and file to be half baked morons incapable of reason or vision, blind to consequences and obligation, that they have condemed their party to power only in sections where such people are as common as dirt, leaving them only the power to destroy the government with their veto on progress...

@Fido,
Good observation; the party of destruction of our country's politics can only destroy itself in the process.

They've kept their promise to let Obama fail as our president, but they don't understand that Obama looks better every day with his handicapped accomplishments for the American People.

Those conservatives who continue to support their party of Destruction are blind and foolish in their own destruction.

@RABEL222,
I don't have any confidence in the American voters, but I believe the OWS demonstrations by mostly college-age students will be the voters that will make a difference in the next election. They are "smarter" than the average old timers who vote party line regardless of how much they are harming themselves. All they do is parrot "cut spending," not realizing the harm it's doing to our country's economy; our infrastructure needs to be maintained, and our schools funded for our children to remain competitive in the world marketplace.

It's gotten to the point where college grads with huge loans that funded their education can't find jobs. They are mad as hell, and I'm sure that's going to make a difference in 2012.

I don't either! Unfortunately there's a history in this country of electing bobble-head cartoon Texas governors as President. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself. Cool

@jcboy,
Let's not forget that birthers still exist and still want Obama's "real" birth certificate. Hmm, which party do these morons support? Oh yeah, the "Grand Old Party" of Palin, Bachmann, Perry, Cain, and Santorum. Even Reagan would be embarrassed by this ****.

And because of that they want their loans to be forgiven.
And now they want their loans forgiven.
Who forced them to take the loans?
They could have done it the old fashioned way and paid their own way thru college.

Sure, it would have taken longer, but they wouldnt have loans to pay back.
They chose to take the loans, they have to pay them back.

@mysteryman,
You have it ass backwards; we need college grads to maintain our economy. Without it, we lose our competitiveness in the world marketplace.

You blame the college grads for taking out loans, because you're too stupid to understand our need to maintain an educated class for both domestic and international demands. You must be a dumb-****.

@cicerone imposter,
I paid for my college myself, working AND going to school.
I didnt take out any loans, nor did I ask my parents for help at all.
And yes, I did graduate from college.

Your need to cast aspersions and call names when someone disagrees with you says much about you.
