It has its relevance Joe. The shooter has genes. And he couldn't fight them.
Executing him would prevent research into the matter and reduce employment opportunities for neurologists and bio-chemists.
Ms Gifford's welfare and progress are of interest to all of us and I wish her well just as much as you do. The deed is done though.
Preventing others is more important unless you prefer more of the same so you can play at Mr Nice Guy more often.
The problem is that if any are stopped by the research the shooting won't happen and those who do the stopping have nothing to point to to prove they are nice guys. So it's easy to label them assholes for those on the moral high ground.
