is it your argument then that talented people are currently seeking and are in office? If so I disagree.
Examples of very talented public speakers
who rose to hi office r Benito Mussolini, John Kennedy & Adolf Hitler. Agree ?

@reasoning logic,
Thanks, reasoning. I actually like my life with the exception of the income and the fact that I work 6 days a week to provide that income.

One of my colleagues suggested we go out for a drink sometime. I am not interested, so I said the sort "okay" response which meant that I wasn't being rude, I just wouldn't be available.

He caught on and later accused me of being too fussy. However, I know his politics are not mine and I suspect his music isn't either. Music and politics top my list of areas in which I should mesh with a potential partner.

@Fido,
I am not at all willing to say that moral people do not seek public office. I do think that the level of compromise necessary is debilitating, even corrupting.

@hawkeye10,
From your generally misanthropic statements here, I doubt you would find anyone anywhere to be intelligent and talented.

To what do u attribute your indigence,
in light of your having been heavily educated, Plain???????
Everyone I know who was well educated has been fairly well off.

Maybe u never really finished high school,
and u r just kidding us about your alleged academic achievements??
A lot of people believe that, Plain; c'mon 'fess up.

@OmSigDAVID,
You do not mind going out on a limb do you? I do not mean that in a hateful way, it is only a observation which I could be seeing incorrectly!

I have yet to see David be hateful unless he has been hated upon first. Plain is a bitter bitchy type around here since she came back, and lashed out at David several times, she has earned what ever hate she gets...

Plain is a person of great vacillation.
Sometimes her thawt processes are very badly disorganized.
Other times, she is not so bad and worthy of social interaction.

U never know.
Fortunately, we don't need to know.

Rep. Giffords speaks for first time since shooting
By Associated Press ,

PHOENIX (AP) — Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords spoke for the first time since she was shot in the forehead, her spokesman said Wednesday, yet another significant milestone in her recovery from a traumatic brain injury.

Giffords first spoke within the past few days and is speaking "more and more," spokesman C.J. Karamargin said Wednesday. He didn't know what her first words were, but said that at breakfast one morning she asked for toast.

"She's working very hard and it's paying off," he told The Associated Press (News - Alert). "We're elated at this. We always knew Gabby is a fighter and that she's not going to let this thing win. And you know, every day is proof of that."
{snip}
Other news organizations, including Politico, earlier reported that Giffords had asked for toast and was able to speak.

In a Facebook (News - Alert) post on Tuesday, Giffords' husband Mark Kelly said his wife had her appetite back and was eating three times a day, "even though it's hospital food."

"It is hard to believe that only one month has passed since Gabrielle was shot," he wrote. "The doctors say she is recovering at lightning speed considering her injury but they aren't kidding when they say this is a marathon process."

He said "there are encouraging signs every day," pointing to her renewed appetite.
{snip}
Kelly, a NASA astronaut, said last week that he expects his wife to be well enough to be at his space launch in two months.
{snip}
Dr. Gerard Francisco, who is treating Giffords at a rehabilitation facility in Houston, said Tuesday that he hopes the congresswoman can make enough progress to attend the space launch, but said it's too early to say.

@littlek,
I think that Representative Giffords' case will parallel that of Phineas Gage, the 19th railroad worker who suffered traumatic brain injury when a tamping rod from a charge he was setting went through his head.

There has been a great deal of revisionism on the presentation of his case. Formerly, it was said that his personality changed after his recovery. It was alleged that he went from an intelligent, well liked man to a bellicose person who picked fights.

New evidence, including photos of Gage, indicate that he was gainfully employed for many years but that long after the accident, he began to suffer seizures and that the personality change was from the period of those seizures.

@OmSigDAVID,
Do you think that she may have thought that you [David] are such a lower case of humanity that no capitalization was required? Just kidding

@reasoning logic,
I have a question for you. Do you think david is pulling our legs? Do you think he is serious or do you think there is an element of satire in what he writes?

Now, if his intent is satire, who and what is he satirizing? Much of his writing is truly perverted. It is sufficiently distasteful and disturbing that even if his attempt is humor, there is no excuse for the grossness of his posts.
