@gungasnake,
I disagree. Indiscriminate shooting doesn't rule out political differences if he was intent on hitting her (apparently is was close contact) and then blasting his way out of there.

@blueveinedthrobber,
I agree, bear. Conspiracy charges would/should apply if it's politically motivated.

For what, being shot? Victims have no motives. That is as moronic a comment as one provided by okie!

A spokesman at the university hospital has stated that Miss Gifford is still alive. They received ten patients, one has died, and five are in surgery. CNN has reported that Miss Gifford's District Director was killed.

Sarah Palin reacted on Facebook to news of the shooting.
"My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today's tragic shooting in Arizona," she wrote. "On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice."

The DOA at the medical center was a nine-month-old infant.

The Congresswoman is now out of surgery, and her surgeon is quoted as saying that he is "optimistic."

I think the doctor said 9-years-old, and the CNN reporter misheard it as 9-months-old and then repeated that.

(Unless I'm the one who misheard the doctor.)

@maxdancona,
This is the way conservatives love to keep our freedoms intact; kill those they disagree with.

It works pretty well; their fear tactics are legend.

@BillW,
There are three more AZ congress members on Palins guns list. They'd better get some protections.

@Setanta,
That seems like a very short surgery. I hope that is a good sign.

Just announced by surgeon, he believes she will live but don't know the amount of recovery she will have. The shot went into and out of her head, completely through the brain. Prayers are eternal!

What happened to the security people?

Quote:
At least 19 people were shot at Giffords' "Your Corner" event held outside a Safeway grocery store in Tucson, including three members of the Democratic congresswoman's staff in Arizona. Five have died, including one of Giffords' aides, and nine are in critical condition at the University of Arizona Medical Center.

Fox News confirmed that a 22 year-old white male named Jared Loughner was taken into custody as the alleged shooter.

Sullivan (who was wrong about "pronounced dead") says that the shooter is Jared Lee Loughner.
