i get regular e-mails, from vid about the new forum, it looks pretty and he claims it should be up soon.

Oh. I thought it was up & running already.

Shows how much I know about these things!

@Caroline,
Can you link the site? I'm still curious as to what Vide programmed, and who is there from the old site.

Or is it a secret? Very Happy

@Zetherin,

Oh, I guess that's the list mark's talking about - Vide's newsletter.

I don't have to stop to consider why I'm not on that list, I already know! That man wasn't fond of me at all!

Well I don't know your history with this person & your old forum, Zetherin, but I'd consider you an assert to any forum. I mean that. Not sucking up to you, OK?

@Zetherin,
Yeah I'm curious too but I don't have the link, I can get it when pm's are up or ask sometimesun I'm sure he went there. I don't think advertising it was Roberts problem it was the underhand way they went about it.

@msolga,
Me too, not that I'm sucking up to you or anything, I hope you become a mod again, the community will benefit.

@msolga,
Haha, well I appreciate it. I don't remember exactly what happened, but it basically involved me speaking for another moderator when I shouldn't have. It also involved me disagreeing, for the most part, with the sentiments of the majority of the other moderators.

Eh, it's all water under the bridge, and I don't have any ill will towards any of them, including Vide. I hope his site is successful.

However, I hope our group is even more successful Wink

And make sure you stop by when it opens, msolga!

@Caroline,
Wink

Thank you, Caroline.
But I never was a mod at all.
Of course, the community has suffered terribly as a result! Razz

(just kidding, just kidding ....)

Good luck to you guys. Not that I think you'll need luck. I can see that you're willing to put in the work here & that's what will make things work for you.

@Caroline,
I remember you helping out a lot when you were mod, too. And while it was short-lived, you have to remember that we're starting anew here - almost every mod will be new, which means you needn't worry about people having preconceived notions. And I'm sure you've learned from your mistakes, too. So, really, if you were thinking about applying, I think you should.

Well I certainly will drop by, Zetherin! Because I'm very interested to see what develops.

Though I can't guarantee that I won't be out of my depth! Wink

But I do sincerely wish your group here the very best.

@Zetherin,
Thanks Zeth. I worked hard too, too hard which is why I made mistakes plus I had personal problems too. I feel it's Johns decision and maybe he would handle me with caution the second time round, I have to earn the trust back. But it would be fun, I had a great time but it can be hard work at times, I really enjoyed it though. Maybe another time.

@Caroline,
Well, if you sent him a detailed e-mail describing why you'd make a great moderator this second time around, I'm sure he would take you into consideration.

@Zetherin,
I just think yeah and maybe he'll remember the mistakes I made, I was fired then banned not good running for a mod. Nah I think John can do without the added stress of worrying about me. If he wants me on the team then he'll let me know. But I wouldn't put myself forward because I caused a lot of agro not on purpose mind, it was just hard work and I suffered because of the stress, there were a few bad posters that I was trying to deal with, I dealt with it but just couldn't cope with it all at once. I spent a lot of time on the forum and saw everything so I worked hard to get it a nice place to post without abuse or idiots. It was hard work plus my personal problems, I cracked and made mistakes, now I would know not to work so hard but it was for a good cause. Thanks for thinking of me, that's nice.

Just one last thing, before I finally do go.

I honestly cannot understand why it can't be possible for those interested in philosophy to participate in both groups.

I mean, surely the more discussion (on a not too widely discussed subject on internet forums) the better?

@msolga,
Yes, as was noted earlier by jgweed, it is not the goal to separate members into silos once this group opens. We're hoping that people still participate on the main site even after they join the philosophy group. We want community, not broken cliques.

Yes, it's been said on other threads, by other people, a number of times.

I don't see the problem as coming from your end, but from the "other" group. But then, I'm not involved in the politics of the situation, so I'm speaking as purely an observer from this end ...

@msolga,
Ah, you mean that some probably consider us to be the prissy aristocrats, forming our own little group because we're better than the common folk?

Haha, I'm sure that sort of talk will die down once other groups open.

@Zetherin,
No, no, not at all, Zetherin!

No, I was referring to the the existing & departed members of your former forum.

@msolga,
Oh! When people speak about the silos, they aren't talking about the old philforum members that made their own site at all! They're talking about you guys! What's being said is that we don't want disparity between the philforum members that are joining this new group, and A2K members!
