@CoastalRat,
I see Foofie's point and tend to agree with it.

Doesn't surprise me.

This is not a knock on you sumac. I would guess that if you asked conservatives, they would make identical comments about MSNBC that liberals makes against Fox. It all depends on your political leanings as to your faith in the reporting honesty of the media. I would expect all liberals on A2K to think that way about Fox, just as I bet all conservatives have the same low opinion of MSNBC.

@CoastalRat,
I think it's fair to point out that the dedicated viewers of Fox News consistently score the lowest on surveys regarding actual knowledge of what is going on in the world. In those that I've seen, actually, viewers of the Daily Show were twice to three times as likely to accurately describe political and economic situations.

The point isn't that Fox is right and MSNBC left - that's easy to understand. The point is that Fox regularly and intentionally misleads it's viewers as to what is going on in the world.

@Cycloptichorn,
Well, I can't really argue the point since I seldom watch Fox or MSNBC. And since honesty will not allow me to comment or argue a stance without some belief that I am on firm ground as to what I am arguing, I will not put up an argument to counter your view. lol

@JTT,
Your link is not proof of her statement. Do you not understand what proof is? There are all kinds of hate groups in this country. Their members I'm sure are both Christian, Jewish, Muslim, white, black, etc, etc. Not a lick of which is proof of Foofie's comment. Unless by many Foofie meant a small minority, because then I would unhesitantly agree with Foofie. In which case Foofie needs to be more explicit in her meaning and I will retract my comment.

@CoastalRat,
So, moderate Muslims like Feisal Abdul Rauf shouldn't have to shout to the heavens that they're not terrorists, but they should speak out loudly against the terrorist acts to give non-Muslims less reason to demand that the former "prove" that they aren't terrorists.

Seeing as how the satisfaction of these non-Muslims is all important, how loudly shall moderate Muslims speak to satisfy these non-Muslims in their demand that they prove that they are not terrorists? Do these non-Muslims have other hoops through which moderate Muslims should gladly jump through to satisfy these non-Muslims?

Larry King had a panel of four (2 Democrats, 2 Republicans) on his show the other night to discuss the issues of the day -- the economy, midterms, etc. At the very end, he brought up the mosque and it was, interestingly, the only thing they all four agreed upon -- yes, the developers have every right to build it there, but they should move it to another location. A rare moment in politics.

@InfraBlue,
Obviously I must not be making my point very clearly. In an ideal world, nobody would get lumped in with any idiots and we would all be, as MLK stated, judged by our actions. But we do not live in an ideal world.

The point I wished to make was this. There is little to no condemnation among Muslims when their extreme brethren commit atrocities in the name of allah. Rightly or wrongly, this cannot help but lead non-Muslims to wonder why this is the case. Do they secretly applaud what their extremist brethren do? Who knows? That is the point. Who knows? But human nature being what it is, without some kind of outrage from the Muslim world about these atrocities, people are left to fill in the blanks and believe all Muslims support the atrocities.

I'm just observing and commenting on human nature here. Not whether it is right or wrong that this should be the case. It just is. So it is little wonder people in NY would question the motives of this Imam and his community center/mosque.

Exactly, and neither through the clergy, the government nor the intelligentsia do Muslims condemn those who wage war on the infidels. Under those conditions conferring respect and deference upon the Islamics is actually a character FLAW. We in effect become enablers, we take a course that is bad for us and for all mankind.

If the Moslems choose to give offense unto us,
then we can accept their enmity, their contempt, in the spirit in which it is so obviously intended.

@InfraBlue,
Unfortunately the Fatwa by extremists do affect how loudly one can protest against extremists. The Wahhabis are a danger to Muslim society as well as the Jewish extremists.
