@ossobuco,
<aghhhh!>

Osso, it's not about the mosque!

It's about some people's insular attitudes!

@msolga,
Aggh back but I'm sleepy. Talk tomorrow.

It is not about the mosque? Surely you are kidding. Tell me you are kidding.

The thread is NOT about all our sins. It IS about a building.

@ossobuco,
it is about cultural sensitivity, and about how yet another American minority group is trying to ram their agenda down the throat of the majority all while telling the majority that they should not have the right to say no. We are going to continue to see this power play from minority bullies until and unless we ever develop the balls to tell them to go **** themselves. The minority has the right and the obligation to try to make their minority view the majority view, they do not have the right to demand to get their way.

@ossobuco,
And in the grander scope of things, this thread is about a bunch of self-absorbed, self-involved, self-important Americans going on about a building while there are greater, more pressing issues at hand, like what will become of the messes Americans are leaving behind in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But I also see that threads about Iraq & what it must now cope with after the invasion are pretty thin on the ground these days. Almost non-existent, actually. Same with scraping up enough interest for a decent thread about what's actually happening in Afghanistan. Iraq appears to be yesterday's news. No longer worthy of attention. But the suffering goes on & on
We have made up our minds about Iraq, and pretty near on Afghanistan....there is nothing to talk about. We could talk about suffering all day every day, and never talk about anyone outside of Africa if we wanted to, but we dont want to....that is not productive work.

Who is this collective "we"? Do you call what is happening here productive work?

The hell thay didn't; we SAW them on TV. That 's a lie, FART.

This wasn't just-desserts for dastardly Americans.
Their cheering and dancing showed that thay thawt it was !!

OBL is a gangster, and religion is his weapon, not his rationale.
He's a gangster who destabilizes the region for his and other gangster's gain.
IF u have ANY evidence of this, then tell us what it IS, FART.
Laden is a Moslem fanatic, based on his religion.
He did not need money.
That is different than John Dillinger.

Beyond that, he doesn't see any need to distinguish between
a Foofie or a David who applaud the wars,
versus those Americans who condemn them.
I urged and demanded the overthrow of Saddam. I got my wish.
I don 't think he nor his boys r coming back. Enuf is enuf.
The war in Iraq was TOO SLOW TO START and too slow to STOP.
I do not understand the reason that we r still there.
Saddam has been overthrown ENUF already.
Those 2 wars have BIPARTISAN support.
Obama overtly supports them, as did W.

Maybe there is a good reason for remaining there.
I don 't know what it is. We shoud have taken the oil
as reparations of war. We have not seen it here.

to leave their prejudice behind in regards to Muslims,
I wish to clarify something here, to wit:
thru out my life I have not taken much interest in other people's
religious opinions. I have never asked anyone his theological opinions;
I don't care, as a general rule.
This sentiment prevailed as to the Moslems, whom I did not single out, to and thru 9/10/1,
but it did not survive the duration of the following morning.

I don 't care what the Moslems believe theologically,
but I care what thay r doing on this planet to the extent that
thay bear malice to Americans and that thay ACT in furtherance
of that malice, as thay did on 9/11/1.
If I meet a Moslem tomorrow, I probably will not treat him
much differently, except that I think that plain logic suggests
that a little paranoia is in order; i.e., be a little more careful.
I don ' t necessarily want him standing behind me.

failures art wrote:
Americans are no less frustrated about these wars than Australians Msolga.
Admittedly, I know that we went to Iraq to overthrow Saddam. We DID that; success!
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, as W correctly asserted.
It is frustrating that we continue to lose life n treasure there now.

JTT says there is a 9/11 everyday in Iraq because of the USA.
The Moslems did it to US; we can retributively do it to the Moslems.

Thank you. While of interest only to me, perhaps, because I am late in coming to this thread, I nonetheless learned a great deal.

@hawkeye10,
Don't worry hawk. In about 3o years you will be a minority then let's see how you feel about minorities submitting to the will of the majority.

@InfraBlue,
You got that right. I have been thinking about the same thing regarding Iraq and Afghanistan future too. (not that I am any great knowledgeable person about the issue but nevertheless...) I think more than likely, both places will pretty much be the same or maybe a little worse than they are now. In other words as far as improving their lives we didn't do anything.

Sorry for the interruption.

@OmSigDAVID,
I learned that JTT has some topics that he loves to talk about and is constitutionally unable to shut up about them. I learned that the substantive discussion about the building probably occurred early on in this thread. I learned who likes to rant and rave, and who is reasoned.

My experience with JTT is that he is not able to reason
and that he has explicitly rejected logic.
I see no point in discussing anything with someone
who repudiates reason itself; hopeless.

U might as well yell at the wind.
I have him on Ignore.

What we did was create another generation of orphans who will be brought to masadras run by a more radical element of muslim clerics and raised in an atmosphere of isolation and hatred of everything not spouted by those who give them food, clothes, and a bed to sleep in. Rather than wage war against terrorism, we created another generation of it.

As to the topic of the thread. I hope the mosque gets built as planned.

The irrational accusations and shouting appears to be turning more and more against the Mosque. Amazing how effective that technique is in politics.

@edgarblythe,
The conservatives know how to incite bigotry, and changed their tactics to the WTC because their fight against gays and lesbians are losing steam.

Americans are really dumb.
