@Caroline,
How about something simple like letting them build where they already own land that isn't on the WTC site.

@parados,
Any objections? It appears to be fair.

@Caroline,
Now.. what about all the others that won't accept this?

I think it's clear they have no interest in compromise.

@parados,
So others object but why? Then they are not worth talking to. You can never please everyone, someone will always object so you please the majority.

@Caroline,
I was with you right to the point where you said "please the majority."

What right does the majority have to be pleased?

No, that isn't the way it works in the US nor in the UK I suspect. You don't do something to please the majority especially when you have people telling lies to the majority to sway public opinion. You have a legal system to determine facts.

The fact is that the permit was given to build the building. I find it ironic that the people arguing against the mosque are the most vocal about personal rights and how people should be allowed to use their property any way they want. (Except of course when they disagree with how it will be used.)

That is exactly what they are trying to do, build not on the WTC site on land they already have an option to build on.

@parados,
Well I don't hold sway what politicians say they're all bent. I meant take an informed vote, something that's probably never happened in politics.

If you put everything to a majority vote, how are you going to have justice?

An informed vote was taken when the vote was taken to issue the permit to build the building.

Now along come people that want to overturn that informed vote because they are bigots. There is nothing else to be said about them. They are telling lies about the project. They are attempting to create a public backlash by telling those lies.

I'll compromise there too..

How about 2 blocks away and not visible from the WTC site? Will that work for you?

It looks like you forgot about the compromise you already agreed to. So, this means you don't really want to compromise, doesn't it?

@parados,
Like I keep saying it's insensitive why should I have to compromise anything when all I'm asking for is decency and respect for the dead?

@parados,
No I already asked what would you like and you answered and I said deal, what you're actually asking me is to live with a very insensitive building, insensitive being built right next to the site, it is you who is unwilling to compromise obviously!
