And sorry, I seem to have told my story twice. It's just one story of that day.

I do take us americans as solipsistic, though. Not that 9/11 was nothing, but hey, look around.
At WHAT ??

Which of your posts? And what did I say that made you despair?

@ossobuco,
My psychodrama? I can see my side situation as being my own drama. I rarely mention all that. Years go by before I mention it. I know it is not a primary comment. Obviously. Certainly sorry it is taken as psychodrama.

But what are you on about?

I 'm pretty sure that if those Moslems were ABLE
to put that mosque exactly where the World Trade Center used to be, thay 'd DO it.

Then thay 'd announce that thay were honoring the victims.

@OmSigDAVID,
I think that's a great idea, Om, maybe the best one you've ever had. Put two mosques where the two towers previously stood.

This should win the prize for the most idiotic post in this thread.

Pure speculation caused by bigotry and hate. A statement without cause. The burden of proof is on you to provide evidence for your wild claim. Pretty sure is not good enough.

@Intrepid,
given davids legal background, you'd think he'd be more comfortable with absolutes

"Your Honour, I'm pretty sure my client didn't mean to kill that man when he put three bullets into his skull at close range."

case closed, what more evidence do we need Rolling Eyes

@djjd62,
The opposite is true of David's statement - he speculates on potential (and hypothetical) motives for an imaginary act. Such speculation can never be right or wrong, only more or less probable - nothing "absolute" about it, and nothing that lex curat. I also think it unlikely - but we'll never know for sure.

Laden woud have been ecstatic beyond ineffability
if his boys had nuked us on 9/11,
or if thay do it; the sooner the better in his vu.

He has cost us blood and treasure - two catastrophic wars totalling $3 trillion so far and counting, plus the introduction of the most profitable product ever in the history of insurance, terrorism insurance. That's on top of untold costs to the general population forced to comply with security measures everywhere from airports to office buildings. But we're not likely to get nuked unless Russian launch safeguards fail completely - there are radiation sensors everywhere from toll bridges into Manhattan to low-orbit satellites. All the same telling Moslems they shouldn't be building mosques where they're legally entitled to do so simply serves to force more of them into Osama's radical camp - why is it you and others here can't see that?

@High Seas,
Im checking in on this with a view that goes with the minority. I SAY WE SHOULD WELCOME THIS. Think about what Ossama bin Laden has to say about the "great satan USA" and how we repress everyone and are so quick to declare war on Muslims. HAving this mosque built near G-z is a symbol of some healing and learning (IMHO). I can understand the several knee jerk anti sentimenst but this event will transcend and provide (again IMHO) a symbol that AMerica has begun to actually live down the theme that appears on its label.

The people of Manhattan generally support building the mosque at that location - some of the outer boroughs oppose it, but with slim margins:
Quote:
46 percent of Manhattanites support the 13-story mosque and community center, called Cordoba House. Thirty-six percent of Manhattan voters oppose the proposal and 18 percent are undecided.
