DAY 10

April 1, 2010.

It is with great sadness that I have to report the Republic passed away last night while sleeping. The USA had lived a full life, fighting 7 different wars, delivering aid to millions of people and ignoring billions more. In it's youth the Republic, like many young people had been rebellious but did manage to outgrow that phase without too much damage. While never diagnosed with schizophrenia, the Republic did spend a few years where it couldn't decide if it was one country or two. After a short healing process the Republic proceeded to engorge itself on every thing it could find until it grew to it's present size. Over the last 50 years the Republic experimented with many things, often spending more than it made. It died penniless and without any friends. Some people point to one man as the reason for the Republic's death. Others point to a multitude of causes. The Republic, also known as the USA and the Great Satan, will be buried in a small history textbook. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you pay your taxes to help cover the debt left behind.

Let's return to the point. As I said:

Gargamel- I hope that you have a dictionary at home--
Racism- A doctrine that INHERENT ( I do hope that you know what this word means) differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement.

So, if you are not one who persists in making generalizations, your playing of the "race" card without any real evidence that the person you are attacking believes that there are indeed INHERENT differences among the various human races which determing cultural or individual achievement, is a ploy which has been used in the hopes of frightening the person it is aimed at.

What you may not be aware of, Gargamel, is that there are many valid reasons why politicians of all races, Caucasian, Black or Asian, can and MUST be criticized on principle. The criticism cannot and must not be deflected by using the "racist" mantra unless it can be proven that the person doing the criticism is indeed a racist under the terms of the definition above.

My advice to you, which I am sure that you will decline, is that name-calling and ad hominem attacks on posters does not advance the dialogue, therefore , you must debate on the substance of the issue.

So, I didn't read any of this. I got to the second sentence and I was like, "Damn. This is ******* annoying. Then I refilled my coffee cup, sat back down, and wrote this post. Now I am going to peruse the rest of the updates under My Posts. Say what you will about H20Man, but I prefer concise idiots to long-winded ones.

Good day.

@H2O MAN,
What do you expect out of an "evil wizard?" I had no idea who "Gargamel" was until I googled it and found out he was an evil wizard that opposed the smurfs or something. It takes a liberal for sure to name himself that on a forum.

@okie,
I'm right here, penis. No need for third-person.

But yeah, those wacky liberals. Not only do they pass legislation that improves the American quality of life, but they're always naming themselves after evil cartoon characters on public internet forums where they don't really spend that much time discussing politics, actually.

So I've Googled "okie." In fact I did an image search:

I find this especially humorous in that you edited the number from 184 to 214.

@parados,
CORRECTION

Earlier today I posted an obituary for the Republic. Unfortunately, what was written wasn't quite accurate. In the post I claimed the US had fought 7 different wars. That number was incorrect. I regret the error and apologize to any living veterans of the Spanish-American war or the Mexican-American war who felt slighted because I didn't include their conflict when I counted wars.

Actually the end is coming...it's starting in Guam with the whole island capsizing because of the weight of the 5000 new naval personnel the Navy's planning to place there...so says Rep Hank Johnson (D-GA)

@slkshock7,
Yes, and the fact that he is a Congressman must give us pause. Perhaps it is something about "equality of results"? We really must be sure that all races, genders, religious groups, are represented among our legislators. Otherwise, there is no Social Justice possible because views such as the "tipping of Guam" will not be elucidated. Equality of results must be a rock hard principle in our nation's affairs, to cover all areas such as Medicine, Law, Business, Engineering, etc./ The only area in which true merit must be observed, is, of course, Professional Basketball.

@parados,
The Republic is not dead, it is just groggy. It will re-awake with a vengeance on November 2, 2010. Then, the King's power will be more limited. Perhaps, like old King Clinton, he may have to hide in his Oval Office with his Veto Scepter. Some have predicted that he will be replaced as King in 2012. We shall see!

I am very sorry, Joe Nation, but you are quite mistaken. There is nothing good about Obama's "drilling" plan.

Note:

Drilling? The New York Times story yesterday in an article entitled "Risk is clear in Drilling; Payoff isn't" indicated that "It is not clear that the plan announced Wednesday will attract bipartisan support for climate and energy legislation while increasing production of domestic oil"

The article continues:

While the oil industry, business groups and some Republicans offered MUTED support for the proposal, most environmental groups denunced it. And the senators whose support Mr. Obama is courting for highly contentious climate and energy legislation to be introduced in the coming weeks gave DECIDEDLY MIXED REACTIONS: For every Senator who praised it as at least a PARTIAL answer to the nation's energy needs, another raised alarms about befouled beaches and continued dependence on fossil fuels.

Mr. Frank Tursi, a preservationist with the North Carolina Coastal Federation said;

"Pandering for votes that rely on a polluting fuel of the past is not the kind of change most of us expected"

***********************************************************************

Does Obama have any principles

@ehBeth,
Yep, bethie, we still here. In about an hour, they will open the Capitol and the Constitution will still be in it's glass case.

Hi, Massagat,
Oil drilling, especially offshore, in this case as much as fifty miles offshore, is never a sure thing nor is it much of an idea to cheer about hence the muted responses. I figure some of that muted response comes from the other side realizing that the poker player in the White House has revealed himself to be playing Bridge and he has just finessed and trumped one of their big issues.
