hope Nigel is ok.
also hope the experience hasn't soured him on the sport.

the last tourny i played in was at fort devens in '98.
hot sunny day in august -- little or no shade.

i think we played four or five games, and we only had a couple of subs.
i was chugging water and gatorade big time.
it wasn't much fun towards the end.
somehow i reached down deep and kept going.

needless to say, the next day i was in no condition to do much of anything...

George & Rhys are takin' it to the street in the Bread of Life 5K.
Bread of Life is a food pantry where Rhys volunteers.
The 5K is on Sunday, October 6 at 1:00, Pine Banks Park in scenic Malden, MA.

If anyone wants to join us, I'll be delighted to send more details by PM.

I'm hoping Hermione and Nigel will join us.

My uncle John lived in Malden.

We visited - hard to remember as I was eight, 1950. Tall house of some sort. He was, in my child memory, quite fat. He was a podiatrist. My mother and aunt took him as a saint. I learned later that he was not without life, but have no data on that.

I'll leave you with that news.

The Bread of Life 5K was pretty low key, but fun anyway.
One of the route marshalls had us take a turn one street too early, so
instead of 3.1 miles, the distance was 2.7. Oh, well.

Rhys and I ran together. Nigel showed up too. He and a group fast young
guys took off together and soon became specks in the distance. Nigel
finshed second over all.

Rhys went pretty well for the first mile, then settled into a walk a little,
run a little rhythm.

And we got lime-green t-shirts.
