Well, it's all online yiddish dictionaries; besides, I've read it in various yiddish sources.

i certainly heard "verklempt" long before mm came along.
i doubt that it's much different from the german "verklemmt" (sort of "anal-retentive" or "verstopft"). hbg

i receall that we used to call someone "seelisch verklemmt" , if we wanted to indicate someone wasn't much of a "fun-guy" .

Yeah, you all are right.

There was an interview with Myers where he said he made up the Yiddish words he used in his skits. I guess that was a real one.

There's one example of a word he made up from his Linda Richman Show skit, "geneckteckessoink," when he said, "as you know Paul Baldwin is the usual host who developed shpilkes in his geneckteckessoink."

Yeah. I see how you could make the error. He did make up some crazy stuff. I thought he was great as Linda Richman.

Isn't she actually his MIL, and wasn't she mixed up in some unsavory way with Rosie O'Donnell? (I'm serious.)

Jews targeted in Seattle shooting

SEATTLE - A man walked into a Jewish organization Friday afternoon and opened fire, killing one woman and injuring at least five others before he was arrested, officials said.

The gunman, who employees said claimed to be a Muslim angry at Israel, forced his way through the security door at the Jewish Federation after an employee had punched in her security code, said Marla Meislin-Dietrich, a co-worker who was not at the building at the time.

Staff members said they overheard him saying "'I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel,' before opening fire on everyone," Meislin-Dietrich said. "He was randomly shooting at everyone."

Well that's a shame. And in London a year ago, people were blown up just for not beimg Muslim, and as some sort of punishment for Britain's involvement in Afghanistan and Iran.

Pictures coming out of Lebanon now (I wonder how much of this is broadcast in the USA?) will not help the situation, for many innocent civilians are being needlessly slaughtered there, and the south of that country is being forcibly depopulated.

McT, This all started with the kidnap of one soldier. Talk about overkill, more innocent children are being killed, and the economic infrastructure of Lebanon destroyed. How can people with a good conscience continue to support Israel?

I have a friend who lives in Studio City Calif. He is american jewish and his 2 children attend jewish school. Several years ago some fruitcake christian armed himself and attacked the school where his children attended and killed several of the children proclaiming that Jews were the christ killers. Just anohter wacko in a world full of wackos (the children are still dead)

Just to clarify, my emphasis was definitely not on the perpetrator. Only the victims.

Had the shooter been a skinhead or anyone else, that article would have been placed here.

Noted. Jews as victims, however, is a strange choice today, when such mayhem is being caused by the Israeli jews in Palestine, Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.
