Many of the so-called facts are really lies and distortions. I am happy to entertain valid facts.
The Pals have suffered. But that is because of their leadership, which refuses to reach any reasonable accord with Israel. Moreover, their answer to everything is more terroristic attacks on Israel.
As I mentioned, when the settlers pulled out of Gaza, the Pals rewarded Israel by immediately attacking the country with hundreds of rockets, and tunneled into Israel to kidnap a soldier. Israel properly retaliated, causing more misery for the Pal people.
It is interesting how your friends even defend Hezbollah, which kidnapped and killed numerous Americans, including hundreds of Marines in barracks in Lebanon. Is that being pro-American?
Advocate, You seem to forget the history of Israel when it suits you. It's never a one side ethical issue.
I have said before that Israel is not perfect, and has done some bad things. But this was the exception that proved the rule. The Pals and other Arabs have been the vicious bastards, even when the victims were fellow Arabs.
For instance, Pal women are treated as slaves, and are regularly murdered should they, say, have an affair. Many Arabs are targeting schools that have girls as students. Is Israel to blame?
Advocate, Here again, you mention the injustice to Pal women, but ignore the injustice of Jews against Jews. Shame on you!

Surprise, surprise, you were able to find articles by dissident Jews that are in opposition to Israel. What nation or movement does not have them. The US is a perfect example of this phenomenon. Regardless the vast majority of Jews around the world are supportive of Israel warts and all. Over 1500 years of degradation, killing, Massacres, Burnings and expulsions have taught in the long run we only have ourselves to rely on.
au, I've been a critic of the US too! We have the same phenomenon in most parts of the world if not all; but some refuse to see their own warts. Those are the people who I address my comments to.
You won't see many dissident voices in Muslim countries. They tend to get shut down very quickly, often with a murder.

Since the Israelis have only themselves to depend on does that mean that you agree that the us should quit spending our young people and our wealth on Israeli policies. Iraq and Iran are more about the protection of Israeli policy than about the protection of the US.

Bush didn't invade Iraq, or attempt to face down Iran, because of Israel. Only a tiny number of nonthinkers have that view. Bush went in to Iraq for the oil and to gain political capital.
As for supporting Israel, every president soon learns that such support is a great investment for us.
