I know I am. I'm thinking Obama is becoming another Clinton republican-lite.

@dyslexia,
I think that's why he got so much of the moderate/independent vote. I always thought he was a centrist.

He was very friendly with a Republican or two before he ran. It's one reason I held fast to my support for Hillary for so long.

@panzade,
I'm not edgar either but I agree that she would have one once he picked Palin. I'm not so sure if he had picked a more moderate running mate.

how do you think Hillary's handling of the financial sector rescue, the auto industry rescue, the problems with N Korea, Afghanistan and Iran would have been different than Obama's in her first 100 days?

What do you mean, "is becoming"? His campaign plans have always been more centrist than Hillar Clinton's and John Edwards's. But to answer your question: No, I'm not too sad about him. I generally like "Republicans lite", especially when they're competent, which the people in Obama's team definitely are.

I'm not saying I'm too happy about him either. I think he could do a better job on human rights in the war-on-terror detainees, show a little more guts on gay marriage, and generally take a more distinctive stand on civil rights issues. But overall, my feelings for him amount to lukewarm support rather than sadness. Which is the same way I felt about him during the election campaign.

@panzade,
I think Hillary would have won over McCain. In fact, I favored Obama in the primaries just because I thought he would be easier to beat in the general election. My bad.

McCain was hurt by Palin, but I think his campaign decided they had nothing to lose by adding her to the ticket, and maybe something to gain. McCain had a good beginning, but started changing the image. A shifting image isn't what we wanted. When I say we, I mean us Republicans, of course.

I think McCain self destructed on his own. Sarah was just icing on the cake. He was very inconsistent, for example. Remember when he stopped campaigning for a single issue and Obama trumped him by pointing out that a president must deal with multiple issues all the time?

I believe any credible Democrat would have won the race, but by varying margins.

I'm not sad about Obama. But then again, I never had unrealistic expectations about what he can do, like many seem to have.

Politics is the act of dragging the center. Taking drastic actions right away, which many Liberals want, doesn't do that. I wish people could be a little more patient then they have been.
