update, Diane has been moved out of Surgical Recovery to a "normal" room. She is on a "self-administered morphine" for pain.
She told me (Sunday I think) she had never received flowers in her life so this morning I ordered flowers to be delivered to her room.
Her previous Nurse Practioner (named Favio) is a retired Army medic who was raised on a ranch in Chama New Mexico, she is in love. I may have to shoot him.
I will give her a couple more hours and then Osso and I will go see her ( a few moments only) and then go eat (today is Osso's b'day)
Great, dys- Those morphine pumps are wonderful. A patient does not have to sit around in pain until a nurse decides to come into the room, and give her a shot.
Now you and Osso can relax a little. Have a great lunch, and wish Osso a "Happy Birthday" for me!
Ah, I finally found this thread--with guidance from Osso. What a relief. Dys, was it a red or green burrito?.
Noddy, thanks for the visual aid: no doubt, pictures ARE worth more than words.
Good advice Dys: it could be that our addictions to Tums and Rolaids may be ways to put off the removal or dissolution of stones and crystals.
Make sure the nurses wash their hands before they touch Diane.
Phew!
Much love from L and me.
Any photos of Favio?
~~~
That update was quite nice to read. Thanks, Mr. Dys.
((( dys and Diane )))
((( and OssoB too ))) she's a good friend to have
RED burrito? what's that? This is New Mexico, not Tejas.
A good example of why I like to read your posts.
This is New Mexico, Favio, is most likely an illegal alien with land grant status dating back to 1621. maybe even a 'converso'. at best, a mestizo. His photo is most likely found at the post office.
Glad to learn that this ordeal is winding down for both Diane and Dys.
Have you guys noticed that - apart from the Favio bit - Dys is becoming less of a crank? Well, a little less anyway.
I'm hoping that the morphine drip is more effective for Diane than it was for me and my hospital roommate. Headache and nausea, still had pain.
Please don't be shootin' any of the hospital help, dys.
osso, A giant HB.
Please send the Lady Diane my love.
Oh! For Diane?
I thought they were giving the drip to DYS and that that explained his unusually pleasant behavior.
BTW: On the way home from my morning walk I saw and followed one of those "Mexican" lunch trucks that go to the back of businesses to sell lunch to their employees. I can't resist them whenever I see them. I bought a burro with just beans and cheese. Took it home and reheated it after infusing it with chile colorado (a red sauce almost as good as that made in Oaxaca). I enjoyed it with a Bohemia beer. Now I hear that New Mexico only has GREEN burritos. How sorry I feel for Dys, et.al.
And I was feeling sorry for them because of Diane's stones.
I like both chile verde and chile colorado; you know me, always trying to get along.
(I also like those trucks, often for mariscos...
there was a great one that always stopped by our business building on Redwood Avenue in Mar Vista, JL).
We probably shouldn't be talking about chile this and that on Diane's thread..
I agree, but the flesh is weak.
Ok not really an update but Osso and i just returned from our visit with Lady Diane. She was more upbeat than I had seen her in months even though she was in obvious pain. She has been up for a walk twice today and it's possible she may come home on thursday. She complained about being tired so we left pretty quickly. Osso and i went to lunch at Vivace and had a wonderful meal. Italian, the ultimate comfort food. Interesting side-note. Osso said her pasta has not quite hot enough and asked the wait-person to nuke it and the wait person said "We don't have a micro-wave in the restaurant"
I responded that's it's quite amazing what has been done with canned Italian food these days and the wine in a box isn't bad either." I'm pretty sure she said "come back soon." maybe not.
I take it you're feeling better, too, then?
:wink:
I SHOULD think Lady Diane would be upbeat simply because it's over with.
My wife and I went to a nice Italian restaurant some time back and we were the only one's there except for the waiter. He served what seemed a very small quantity of vino russo in what were pretty large glasses. Nevertheless, I was feeling a bit rustico and commented to him "Oh, so we got the last of it?" He smiled and left. Later, however--just before we paid the tip--he came back and with a smile filled our glasses again to the same level "on the house." I was shameless enough to enjoy it.
Reading along....good news about my pal Diane...go easy on the peppers...healing thoughts from a Scot in old England.
I told the waitress I was happy to hear about no microwave, and they did a quick pan heating. Man, I loved that rack of pans that you could see through the alcove and then through the kitchen pass through <envy>.
Going out for a meal with Dys is always an fine experience in customer- waitstaff relations. Most of the time, in most restaurants, everybody ends up happy because of the repartee that happens.
When a2kers met in San Francisco in, um, 2004?, and had breakfast at some place across from the St. Francis, he and the waitress exchanged quips off and on through the meal. She snapped one liners right back as fast as he could. Hilarious.
McTag, recent research indicates that chili peppers may be used soon to manage pain from surgery. But I agree that given the location (the stomach area) of Lady Blue Eyes' surgery, she should eat mild for a while.
