Which A2K'er was in the porta potty at the time? And did they press the fart button just before the accident?

it's amazing that something so sturdy looking cound just collaspe. My husband has the news on all last night for that. The fox newscaster was ready to declare it an act of terror. Then they had people on the phone who had family that had perhaps died.

I couldn't watch

cjhsa- IMO, there are things about which civilized people do not joke. Tragedies that kill people are one of them!

Oh c'mon people! A sense of humor is what gets most of us through tough times.

cjhsa was just posting a funny thought upon seeing the pic with the porta-potty.
Anyone with any kind of sense of humor has to wonder if someone was in the thing when the bridge went down.

Thinking that does not disrespect the enormity of the tragedy.

um, no it doesn't.
We're all adults here, we certainly understand this was a terrible thing that happened.

Right. And whenever something really terrible happens, people usually start threads on an internet forum to joke about it.

There is no way you can look at that picture and not wonder if someone was in the porta-john at the time.

In fact, I'll bet that porta-potty pic makes the late night talk show rounds at some point.

Take the gloves off parados.

I agree.
Humor is one way of dealing with difficult situations. Ask any comedian.

Anyone that says they didn't wonder if someone was on the pot at the time....is lying.

I've seen/read more conspiracy theory jokes about 9/11 on A2K than you could even imagine.

At this point, you cannot even speculate about what caused the accident and those that do are the real joke. I figure we might as well focus on the lighter side.

It bothers me with the 9/11 nut jobs, too. I've had quite a few discussions with our resident conspiracy idiots over on the 9/11 threads.

But I haven't seen anyone in their right minds make jokes about the collapse of the Twin Towers on 9/12. I've later seen pictures of people joking about the 9/11 tragedy. If you want to be lumped together with those people...........

Damned if I do. Damned if I don't.

Say what I want. Do what I wanna.

To be perfectly honest, this thread was the result of an office conversation about the picture on the front of USA Today. I was hardly the first one to notice the porta-john and comment on it.

happycat....do you feel it would be appropriate if I started a thread making a joke about the woman who had 4 fetuses hidden in various drawers and cabinets around her house? Oh, maybe about the fact she owned a cab company, and the fact babies have a habit of being born in cabs....you know, tying it all in, in a really funny way?

Please, don't bother to try to explain the difference to me, I'm sure you feel there is one. (actually, in that case, I believe you think that case is so sad largely because it happened where you live, and things like that "aren't supposed to happen" there....like there're supposed to happen someplace else and that would be better? I've noticed you saying other times about something being "sad" and it's mainly because you don't feel the world is working the way you think it should.

For arguments sake, let's say someone was in that portable toilet when the bridge collapsed, but the toilet was maybe a few yards further down the road and he died in it. Would that be funny? What if it happened where you live? Somehow, I doubt you would be thinking it's funny if it was a mile from your house.

Nothing about this bridge collapsing and people dying over it is humorous....sorry.

Chai, most humor is in bad taste... in someone's eyes... Otherwise it is rarely funny...
