Lots of illegal drugs too, & I think they're organic. It's time to stop the invasion.

The invasion we need to stop is the conservatives who think they can tell us what we can and can't do in our private lives.

I wish the government would get the heck out my private life, whether that be with organic food, or what drugs it thinks I should take, or what language I want to speak or who I choose to marry.

Are you talking about illegal drugs as being your private life?
Whethere illegal drugs should be your right or not isn't the question, the point is, those drugs are illegal, as is the invasion!! You want to have drugs legal, contact your representative. Conservatives have kept drugs illegal? Hmm, why didn't your buds during their 40 years of control take care of that private matter?
Actually, I wish drugs were legal, it would stop a lot of the crime & we'd get a lot more tax $$.

Oops, I regretted (and thus deleted) that post after I reread it because it is a digression from the topic that I care about.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but I don't want to continue on this line.

Illegal invasion is the topic, & that entails a lot of problems, not just health care. But, drug addiction also adds to our health care costs.

I don't understand why conservatives need to make every issue into a war.

Let's see.. we have the "War on Terror(tm)", and the "War on Drugs(tm)".

You want to keep people from marrying those they love and you say you are "Defending Marriage". And people want to be able to say "Happy Hannukah" and it is a "war on Christmas".

Now you want to say people taking care of our kids, picking our lettuce and serving us hamburgers is an "invasion"?

Do you know there is a real war going on right now with thousands of deaths of young US soldiers, and billions of dollars?

This grandstanding is a bit tiresome.

If 20,000,000 Chinese or Iranians were to sneak across our borders, what would you call it? Again, NOT ALL coming across those borders are mexicans.

Wrong: if they're rocket scientists, the US will make them legal.

Never! They'll not only make them legal as soon as they learn they're a rocket scientist, but they'll pay them to stay.

What hbg said. Government is more or less the practical definition of capricious and arbitrary. As for making them legal, no. Not if they enter the country without our consent.

The solution to make everyone happy seems obvious.

We need is a path to citizenship for immigrants who are living and working here.

This would solve the problem of illegality (as Madam points out) and be compassionate enough since it woudn't break up families or disrupt the lives of people I care about (who don't happen to be rocket scientists but are decent people I am quite fond of).

They have my consent Roger, and they have the tacit consent of small businesses who hire them, and consumers who benefit from their being here.

The "official" consent will come from our elected officials (who happen to now be more Democrats than before). I have let my elected officials know that I vote for a path to citizenship.

Our politicians on both sides of the aisle have sold out to illegals. I'd like to put all of 'em on an Amtrak to Mexico City. National Guard troops should be used to round up illegals at their "immigration" rallies, then make the illegals walk back across the border. Enough already. Mexicans are not compassionate towards Americans, not even towards their own expats. Why should we be? Enough already.

Dang crossposting, anyway. I was agreeing on the path to citizenship, of course.

As to someone's consent, notice I said without our knowledge, and avoided the word consent.
