When NASA started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ballpoint pens would not work at zero gravity.

To combat the problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that wrote at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to 300C.

The Russians used a pencil.

If you think you'd have to be 200 to appreciate that joke...you simply do not understand it.

It's an American joke, Frank. I wouldn't expect Spendius to get it all at once if he's not familiar with the old vaudeville song, "Chattanooga Choo-Choo."

Anyways…I think I told that Roy Rogers joke before in A2K…perhaps even here in this thread. There is another like it that I enjoy also. (Shaggy Dog stories!)

Back in the days of the old Soviet Union, Tanya and her husband Rudolph were looking out the window at the weather brewing.

Tanya suggested that it was going to snow soon.

Rudolph said he thought it was going to rain.

The precipitation started…and Tanya said, “See, it is starting to snow.”

Rudolph countered, “No…it is starting to rain.”

Tanya insisted that it was snow.

Rudolph insisted it was rain with the line, “Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!”

How many Freudian analysts does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to change it, and the other to hold the penis. LADDER. I MEANT LADDER!

Pardon me, boy
Is that the Chattanooga choo choo?

I don't think so.

@Frank Apisa,
I got it.

It reminded me of the one where some musicians are doing requests, and one old chap asks them to play "Paddy my boy."

I won't bother with the rest of the joke.

Okay...I'll bite. What is the rest, because I do not get this one. (English joke?)

@Frank Apisa,
I suppose it might be interesting to a researcher bearing in mind what Freud said about jokes.

@Frank Apisa,
C'mon, Frank. Wake up. Paddy me Boy = pardon me boy. The chap couldn't remember the right name of the tune.

I thought of the sound of the "Paddy my boy"...but I just could not make the connection. I'm on the downhill side of this trip.

@Frank Apisa,
I'm beginning to think it might be better than being on the uphill side. Apart from the shagging, which is generally something of a brief interlude, and getting briefer over time.

@spendius,
Funny that you mentioned that, Spendius. I was just talking about that very thing with Nancy yesterday.

We were watching the antics of some 20 somethings (a mix of guys and gals)…and we both realized that the early years were a bitch. I wouldn’t be anything less than 50…no matter what. The games that have to be played by the young are excruciating.

Like you, the more I think about it, the more I appreciate the downhill side. We all know how this plays out.

I'm not old and I'm not American, but I got it.
