OmSig is right about the Rosie-Selleck fiasco. She used her show to yell at him about gun control, and the hypocrite made sure her kids' bodyguards were carrying guns.

That was really infuriating.

Like the liberal stance that school vouchers are wrong (although many of them attended private schools.) Those rules are for other people.

My recollection of Rosie's opposition to guns was directed toward the ridiculous, if-I-can't-have-uzis-and-howitzers-my-rights-are-violated crowd. Selleck had done something for the NRA around the time of the little flareup between the two. I'll buy that Rosie doesn't want anyone but her bodyguards (police and military) to own a gun when someone shows me a quote, because it just seems too crazy.

O'Donnell said, "I don't personally own a gun, but if you are qualified, licensed and registered, I have no problem."

She made this statement to qualify previous ones that were pretty crazy.

Certainly sir, here you are:
Quote:
Rosie O'Donnell ...
April 19, 1999, broadcast of her talk show, on which she stated, "You are not allowed to own a gun, and if you do own a gun, I think you should go to prison."

Will that be cash or charge, and would you like it wrapped?

Yes.
By their ranting,
or use of political power, or of media influence
to undermine, curtail, and violate citizens' rights
of self defense and to
the necessary emergency equipment thereof,
one wud expect the number of gun-carrying
anti-gun zealouts to be ZERO
.

That has not proven to be the case,
referring to Sen. Diane Feinstein, Sen. Charles Schumer,
Eleanor Roosevelt, anti-gun actress Jennifer O'Neill
( movie "The Summer of '42 " )
who accidentally shot herself in the stomach, at home,
Washington Post writer Carl Rowan,
who called for a complete prohibition
of all guns except police,
who used an illegal gun and SHOT a tresspasser
for swimming in Rowan 's pool.
Those are all the ones
that I remember at the moment.

I am no more a 'gunlover' than I am a hatchet-lover or a blender-lover. A gun is just a tool for doing one's work like any other tool and should be treated as such.

I merely take exception to the erroneous use of terms such as 'surprisingly large.' Surprising to who? How large is large (other than your preclivity for making large, colored posts)?

You haven't done any research, have no statistics, posts, or evidence; yet you advance a point as if it were a fact. Don't.

Perhaps this would be an appropriate juncture for the insertion into this discussion the observation that distinction is to be made between those who respectfully appreciate, responsibly enjoy, and competently employ firearms and those who in fact are gun nuts.

It's a major reason why I reject the right/left, liberal/conservative labelling system.

I own rifles, and use them, but don't own pistols, and are against them in general without proper licensing. I believe it is not only a citizen's right, but responsibility, to own a rifle and know how to use it.

This may be a first. I'm not following the flow here....

Did anyone point out that Baba Wawa produces The View and that Rosie is her employee?

Sorry, Snood, but u show your ignorance
of the psyches of a significant proportion of your fellow citizens.

By way of illustrating my point,
let me refer to a case of my former law partner
who was defending a police officer
who was sued in tort ( along with the NYPD ).
He had been called to subdue a disorderly individual.
The officer opted to give his gun to his partner,
b4 beginning to wrestle down the wild man.

When a bystander saw the officer 's gun come out
of its holster ( as indicated above ),
the bystander became abruptly incontinent.
That was his pre-existing state of mind and of his emotions.

Q.E.D.:
Some folks fear and hate guns.

I am not among them.

So what? The quote I posted does not contradict her decision to hire armed bodyguards.

I don't need to be licensed to purchase a firearm, at least not long guns. Rosie is full of, well, just look at her.

My newest addition. It's actually for my son - Mossberg .20 gauge 505 bantam youth pump shotgun. 20" barrel, 10" stock. Tiny little thing, and light. You can shoot light loads because it's a pump, so it hardly kicks. What a hoot.

I like submachineguns; they are tons of fun.
I like the supercompact 9mm H&K MP5 KA4: very little recoil.
Its like Heckler & Koch repealed Newton 's Third Law of Motion.

MAC 11 is good too
