It's what the French call football. He'll definitely respond to that.

"Good luck in the football".

MG
I can actually speak french, but he's from france and they speak a whole different french than we speak here in boondocks Laughing
Our french is very slang and that's what I grew up with and all I know.
He has a hard time communicating with people who have lived here all their lives because they have a very hard time understanding him.
The french here and the french from France are two different things Sad

I know I could talk to him and he would understand me, but I just wouldn't have a clue as to what he's saying.

I posted the link to where your local French-language CBC radio and tv stations can be found a bit earlier on this thread. Your car radio will definitely be able to pick up at least two or three of the radio stations.

Oh darn! I'm sorry, Beth. I completely forgot about the link. I'll check it out and try to figure out how to set my radio this weekend.

It'll really help, Montana.

The French used on the CBC national network is sorta in between the dialect spoken where you are, and what your new colleague speaks. There will also be some local features - so it should help to 'tune' your ear - make the adjustment from your local dialect to something more familiar to your colleague.

Stalk him then, woman!

Find out where he drinks, dress in one of those French bar dancers outfits, and get him to sling you across a couple of tables.
