The sexy French man who caught my eye

Hey everybody :-D

A lot of you already know that I started a new job 3 weeks ago. Well, there's a man at my company who I've been watching.
He works in the department next to me and we haven't even spoken to eachother yet, but I'm told he's from France and very single.
He comes through my department all the time and I've been enjoying watching him.
It was easy for the first 2 weeks because it seemed that he didn't even know I existed, but this week it hasn't been quite as easy to watch him because suddenly, I'm catching him watching me :-D

Now I'm getting all these butterflies and I feel like a teenager again Laughing

I was having a great time enjoying the view, but now that the view is looking back at me, I'm nervous as hell and I can tell that he is too.

Since he's caught my eye quite a few times since last week, he's been coming around my department a lot more and I'm getting the sweaty palms and everything.

He's tall, blond, and for safety reasons at work, he keeps his hair in a ponytail. His hair is long, but not real long.

Anyway, now for the problem <sigh>. Since he's from France, he doesn't speak the same French they do around here and I don't understand the french they speak in France. He also speaks next to no english, so communication with him is surely going to be a problem.

I know some things about him because my son worked with him when he was working there and I'm worried that we won't be able to communicate.

We never even met and so far, we've had no problem communicating with our eyes, but if we can't talk to eachother, it'll make things very difficult.

It sure is fun in the mean time, though Cool

Heeeheee YAY!

So how does he communicate with people in the office? I'll bet he knows more of "your" french than you think.

I'm sure you'll figure out a way to talk.

Yeah, maybe you're right ;-)

He only talks with a select few and it's because they are the only ones who understand him, but my son tells me that when he worked with him, he was trying to learn more.
I know he's been here for around 2 years, if that and I'm sure he's picked up quite a bit since then.

The other problem is that, even though he understands the french we speak here, I have a problem speaking it and my son tells me he barely understands english.

I guess I better start practicing my french, eh Very Happy

Oui!

Curious, how different can the 2 types of French be? There must be common nouns, verbs etc.

Is it more a matter of pronunciation?

Can you give some examples? (keeping in mind I don't speak a word of French)

It was a teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre did truly love the madamoiselle
And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell,
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They furnished off an apartment with a two room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale,
But when Pierre found work, the little money comin' worked out well
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast
Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They bought a souped-up jitney, 'twas a cherry red '53,
They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary
It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely madamoiselle
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

I hate to be a spoiler, but relationships between co-workers can be quite
difficult, especially when they should end.

Flirting and being infatuated is certainly refreshing, Montana, but take some precautions before "touching".

"souped up jitney?"

I suppose only Chuck Berry could answer that.

Believe it or not, there are several types of French spoken out there, but I'm determined to learn his type ;-)

I honestly can't give any examples because I haven't spoken to him yet, but I think I'll have examples for you real soon ;-)
