Lola sits back in her chair beside the indoor pool. It's too bad it's too cold and cloudy today to enjoy the outside pool with the baby seals. Lola puts down her book and whispers a poem she just read.

I pity
people
who are not
employed
at dreaming.

Looking up, Lola sees Diane and waves to her to come over and join her.

"Hey, Diane," Lola says, "where've ya been?"

Diane sits down in the chair next to Lola and tells her all about the museums and restaurants she's been frequenting over the last two weeks.

Lola is delighted to hear the Diane has been having such a good time.

<fizzle fizzle... snap crackle pop... zoom zoom...>

<hazy light waves begin to form in Lola's living room>

<forms begin to take shape>

Can you see us? Are we getting through?

<Peace&Love and Jack (super Border Collie) appear. PaL is holding her clicker in one hand, and Jack's collar with the other hand.>

Whoa!! We made it!! Love this clicker!! Jack and I have been in a suspended state of transcendency, somewhere above the mountains of Nepal. We both felt a pulling on our extra-sensory-perceptions, and clicked ourselves back here to Lola's. Totally Energizing!!

Hi Everyone... boy, could I use a Latte!!

Woof!! (translated: Scooby Snack?)

<giving Lola a big hug> Lola, sweetie, how have you been? Is Trevor here? Wow, look at these beautiful horse paintings. The Salon looks great!!

Very Happy

Lola is very happy to see her friend P&L. She gives her a big welcoming hug and asks P&L to sit down beside her and Diane. (Jack, the super Border Collie, is tired and decides to relax at the end of the lounger, on which his beloved mistress is sitting.

"Trevor?" says Lola. "He's in the library reading the newspapers from all over the world."

Trevor loves to be informed. He has such an excellent mind and talent..............in so many things.

PaL leans way over, toward the staircase up to the library, and says "Hi Trevor!"

Oh, Diane, what a wonderful tour of the art galleries and museums... Next time, we'll send Jack with you, and he can distract the guard, so that you can reach out and touch the sculptures!! TeeHee

Thanks for the book recommendation. I haven't tried Richard Brautigan yet. He sounds like an author I would enjoy. I wonder if the library has any of his books on 'audio books'. I listen to audio books while driving back and forth to work.

Jack and I have been spending lots of time practicing frisbee throwing/catching. We're thinking about entering a Frisbee Distance-Accuracy competition in a few weeks. Jack's good at catching, but I need lots of practice for throwing the frisbee so that it soars straight and flat. We're thinking about joining our local Disc-Dog club. And, we're still practicing our Agility. We thought we might be ready for some Agility competitions this summer, but we need to work on a few things first.

Lola, that's a great little poem you just read. "employed at dreaming". I like that!!

Lola? Diane? When are you going out to the Seattle area again? A shopping spree at Pike Place Market would be fun.

Ah, but for now, relaxing here at Lola's Salon is just perfect!!

Very Happy

Are you considering the New Mexico gathering, P&L? I may be able to make it. I'm still working on it. Don't know for sure.

That's a Brautigan poem. It's Dyslexia responsible for Diane and I buying up all his books from Amazon. I have found you can get his books under new and used from Amazon at prices as low as $2.75 to no more than $8.00 most of the time. You might want to try that, rather than the library. But I'll bet they're in the library too.

I have that one here. I've read some of it. It looks very interesting. I thank you for introducing me to mr. Brautigan. I'm enjoying his work very much.

PeaceandLove!!! I haven't seen you in sooo long. Here, let me give you a big hug and get a wet, sloppy smooch from Jack.

C.I. has planned a meeting in San Francisco for next April, I think. Would that work for you? If I'm out there and you can't make it, I'll make a point of getting up to Seattle to see you and Patty and Seattlefriend.

Lola, please, please try to make it to the Albuquerque gathering. I've yet to meet you in person and that would be a perfect opportunity. I'm also looking forward to meeting Dys and Joanne and seeing Roger again. Also, Asherman has invited us to his house for a cookout one night. It will be interesting to see all of us lefties in the company of the very nice but conservative Asherman!

Diane, I'm working on it, I really am. But since it's over Memorial Day week end, it is tricky. I'm working on Trevor as well. We'll see. I agree it would be wonderful fun.

I have a 75 watt, glare free, long life
Harmony House light bulb in my toilet.
I have been living in the same apartment
for over 2 years now
and that bulb just keeps burning away,
I believe that it is fond of me.

Someday
I believe
(and soon)
we should erect
a fragile monument
for the Unknown Dreamer
because
he was more important
than soldiers.

the mind is the strangest city

For
my birthday
I want
a dead mouse
and a blue piece of
red candy.

I remember You

could be a beautiful poem

Chosen by beauty to be a handmaiden of the stars,
she passes like a silver brush
across the lens of a telescope.
She brushes the stars, the galaxies
and the light-years into the order that
we know them.

Diane! So good to see you again! (Portentia surfaces in pool, water forming perfect crystal droplets on her metallic copper bikini.) Sorry about the scene in Venice. I really must control myself and remember that having a black belt doesn't give one a good excuse for showing off. Am so glad I didn't permanently injure the dear boy.

(whispering) I suspect you are perfectly correct about Hiama. Take him seriously?! Perhaps not. But he really is adorable, isn't he? I do wish he'd come back and play. He's missing the poetry recitation and everything.

(Portentia and Diane huddle in corner, planning welcome party for Hiama's return...what surprises do they have in store??? Portentia laughs, reflecting that there is no better way for two women to become fast friends than being mistreated by the same man....)

Oh Dyslexia! That was perfectly exquisite! More! More!

(Ummm...I had never realized what a handsome fellow he is!)

Portentia doesn't understand a word of Italian beyond "amore" and "gelato," but loves the sound of the language. She wonders how "75 watt" got translated into something so beautiful, but decides Dyslexia must be very talented.

Viz (may we give you this nickname?) The poetry is excellent, isn't it? It's from Richard Brautigan. A poet recommended by Dsylexia.

My name is henceforth changed! I am somewhat familiar with Brautigan. His name was at the top of the censored list at my highschool in the late '60s-early '70s, so naturally, we ALL read his writings. The name really takes me back...

"Portentia," of course, is MUCH younger...or at least she looks it. Thanks partly to genetics and partly to the best plastic surgeon in the South...
