Lola - Timber's present is not a duck, it's a Sardine! Yes, honestly, that's what the Chinese C-801 missiles are called. There's also a C-802 (Silkworm) and a C-803, which is a cruise missile with 150 miles range. Well, OK, if you don't want it by the pool we'll just have to tell that truck driver to drop it off elsewhere.

Thank you, Timber, you know I love your present! <G>

What a fascinating crowd Lola attracts! I can hardly wait to get to know you better. So please, tell me a little about yourselves.

Oh, wait! I have a better idea! Tell me about each other! Let's see now...HofT and Timber can tell me about each other, Diane and Bill W can tell about each other, Stradee and Oldandknew...and Lola, you MUST tell me more about that handsome devil, Trevor! (I believe Hiama and I have already met, haven't we?!)

OK, I'll go .... HofT is a dear person and as sweet a woman as ever knew what switches power up a targeting system. She's a bit mysterious, sometimes aloof (but I think that's just to mask a gentle shyness), always humorous, she gets the tech details right, and has overheard some fascinating dinner conversations. She can fly my six anytime.

Good morning back, OldAndKnew! Mint sauce isn't terribly effective, evidently; the thing to do is get another darling sheepdoggie - perhaps P+L will advise - generally guaranteed to keep sheep and assorted other critters in line. Or, as Danon5 put it in another of his memorable quotes, fish and visitors smell after 3 days. <G>

Visitor

You intrigue me, have we met ?

Please enlighten my drakness and accept my apologies, I just can not remember when.

Unless you are this Visitor ?

Down the hill, in the field of sweet alfalfa, they're
freezing each other, the children
playing tag and I'm up at the house, I'm
in the picture window, thin
and distant like the glimpse
of a surfacing fish.

What dark waters
the house is, behind me, settling
into evening.

Dusk and there are, of course, fireflies. Tell me,
what was your name? When you visited once,
by the backroad where the stones glowed pale
in the moonlight, I was too young, I still thought
I belonged to the world.

But now quartered in this house, watching the neighbors' children
turn to dusk, I feel I'm ready. Come back
and bring your finest wine, the oldest bottle.
Bring that strange dusty book you were reading.

Gosh Helen, you and many of the other ladies here at A2K are so wise, sensible and pragmatic about so many things. You must have all 10 fingers on the pulse. You put us male simpletons to shame.

What a lovely poem, hiama! Can you have forgotten that we met here yesterday morning? I poured a mimosa for you, darling, just before you vaporized.

Lola's Salon
Hi Visitor ~

Let's see now, what can I say about oldandnew? He's an adorable doggie smoocher and that's all I can tell ya cause we haven't formally met. Seems like a nice enough chap, especially since he allows farm animals the run of the house.

You'll get to know everyone soon enough, and what better way then a swim
in Lola's Lilo <remembering name now since neurons fireing today> and of course, after we've saved Blatham. We've asked him a thousand times not to play water polo with the seals, but does he listen? Razz

All the men and women who visit Lola's Salon are a good group <and don't let um' tell ya different> Smile

Hi Stradee ---- how are you ? Our paths have never converged before. So I've done a little cut and paste on my profile, so you know a little bit more.
Married. one daughter, who is 21, with a physcology degree.
My interests, travel, rock and roll music, the blues, big cities, rugby union football. Likes, strong beer, coffee, tea, cigarettes, women. Hates, any form of bigotry, racism, or violence.
If I had a bit more time, I could enjoy making the same mistakes all over again. So, as I'm now old enough to enter my 2nd chilhood and start afresh, I think I might give it a go.

I suspected as much, its a shame Youngs doesn't travel so well, I had many wonderful pints when working in London, not the same in the sticks. Also in the old days a good pint of draught bass took some beating. Have you ever tried Young's winter warmer ?

Hi oldandnew, nice meeting you! Please forgive my not checking your profile ~ and thank you for sharing a bit of who you are. Smile

I've a daughter who just celebrated her 40th birthday and who's just begun a new business enterprise. Pretty proud of her, her hubby and my grandson.

Animal advocacy my main interest, but also American football, motor sports <summer and winter> hiking the Sierras, gardening, politics, and my Chevy truck.

Haven't made it to my second childhood yet, <still working on the first>
but my family is always asking "Mom, whatta ya wanna be when ya grow up"? Not sure, but I promised to let them know soon as I do. Laughing
