BillW, well you and your wife are just kids. LOL Thursday it is, I'll PM my telephone number to you. You will need to call for directions to our home.

Yes, I remember the vege mkt very well. In fact, it's still there and still a vege mkt - along with some other crafts etc. I and my brothers played there at the concrete watering troughs for the horses. We would find old empty whiskey bottles and partially fill them with water till they just barely returned to the surface after plunking them in the water. Funny how simple having fun used to be. It was also educational - to vary the amount of water in the bottle and see the different reactions in bouyancy. It taught me at that age what made ships float and submarines go both ways.

Arrowhead notes from all over:

Stradee...you might try the baseball/soccer field of my home town elementary school (Chilliwack - some sixty miles up the Fraser River from Vancouver). One summer, in order to make a better playing surface, that field was plowed up. In the period between the plowing and the leveling/reseeding, one couldn't go more than twenty paces without stepping on an exposed arrowhead. I was less excited about this than my twin (who gathered a fine collection). I kept looking for pearl handled Buntline Specials.

blatham, you're a twin - now we know! My brother lived up in your area for a while - Tacoma to be exact. One time when I was visiting him we went up to Squamish for the weekend. I loved it - but you do get a slight bit more precip than we do!

danon, I lived north of town in what we called the "house on the big hill". I hadn't been back to Weatherford for 40 years until my uncle died in Granbury around 1995. I got to Granbury through Weatherford coming from the north

Oh course, galloping on ole Cochise, my unusually large, stronge and trusty war paint.............

and there was the old "big house on the hill" to welcome me back to Weatheford. That hill wasn't so big anymore! Took a brief tour of the town, then headed south.

Looking forward to Thursday and hoping to hear from Lola before I have to go. Maybe she has access to a computer in OKC?

Hi all, you've been very busy while I was away overnight in OKC.

BillW, my trip to OKC was just an overnight side trip. I'm already back in Dallas. I'd love to see you and your wife next Sunday (not tomorrow but the next) if you're really going to be through Dallas. We could have lunch, dinner or coffee. If not, we can do it another time. I'm often in Dallas. Too bad I wasn't in your town a bit longer, I would have been in touch. I just had to run up for a birthday party and return to Dallas for a wedding today. So the schedule was tight.

Diane,

The Western get together sounds like fun. Maybe I could make it. I'll have to wait until I get a bit closer to the time to know. But maybe. I'd love it.

Gotta go to this wedding..................ugh! I hate em. Back later.

Lola, do try, it would be so much fun to finally meet you!

I'll be in Colorado anyway visiting relatives and will drive down to Albuqerque from CO Springs. It's about a six hour drive through incredibly beautiful country. I'm looking forward to the drive almost as much as the gathering.

Blatham ~ Now you tell me! Very Happy

Don't suppose your brother would entertain the idea of selling part of his collection. I'd even try to find you a "saturday night special" - pearl handle and all! Of course, I'm joking. In the United States, there are laws forbidding the removal of indian artifacts. Are there similar laws in Canada?

Stradee, While you're in Colorado Springs, bop the head of the four star general at the Air Force Academy will you? He's a damn bigot against women, and dangerous to future women going to the Air Force Academy. Too bad nobody seems to want to fire his ass. Over 50 women already came forward to complain about sexual harrassment and rape, but nothing is happening. Why? c.i.

Hi Hoft ~ Saudi Prince Ahmed bin Salmin Abdulaziz, who originally had "War Emblem" passed at age 43 (7/22/02) from a heart attack. Not a mention of wives or War Emblems wherabouts. Hmmm

c.i ~ The explaination given for not removing the ole General as of yet is the internal investigation hasn't been completed.

The Air Force should kick his butt! But if they don't, I'll be sure to smack him a good one. <I'll bring the Hornet>

Why are the services bigoted? Because they don't want women achieving top ranking positions. Not all officers are as blatently pathetic as the one
in question, and there are good people, but the Armed Forces should also have a civilian oversight committee monitoring complaints.

Stradee, the services aren't bigoted, individuals in them are. And, in the past in order to make full bull you had to be a member of the 'good ol boys' club. That is/has changed to the 'good ol persons' club. It just may be a very bad thing for the guys. lol <G>

Right you are timber, (For example) One of my pet peeves is finding out what contributions the blacks made to the history of the USA that WASN'T in the history books I read. What a travesty of human trivialities - and a bunch of shallow thinking. On the other hand, I can understand how it happened knowing the cultural relationships of the time and about how the avg person thought - being a southerner myself. Then there are all the rest of the personality problems.

Danon ~ of course you're correct. Bigotry stems from a way of thinking,
not necessarily the magna carta of the Armed Forces today.

A nice cup of coffee and a piece of cake please Withers.

Hiama strecthes out and watches the plasma screen with all of his american cyber chums planning reunions and such like, what a shame I'm 4000 miles away most of the time.

(Ed's note- Some would say he's on a different planet most of the time but that's another thing entirely)

HIAMA,

You're 4000 miles away from London most of the time? Are you joking? Or where do you live? Are you referring to your attendance at the salon?

Hi BillW and Danon.... I'm sitting in Tacoma, right now! I'm at work, in downtown T-town. My home is in Roy. Did you every make it out there? LOL. It's just a wide spot in the road and the local saloon actually has a hitching post in front! One of the first signs you see when you arrive in town is: "No Horses On Sidewalk". The sidewalk was a big investment for our town!!

Danon, in 76 to 79, I was living out on Fox Island. My daughter was born in 78. We were involved in a deep-dish solar steam concentrator invention at the time.

Small World!!!

Very Happy
