Lola's Salon
"SURF's UP" yells Stradee as she makeshifts her floater to Skadoo capabilites
and rides the wave to the stairs where she meets a happily woofing Jack who's leapt atop one of Wither's trays and is <with impeccable form> wave running to higher ground.

Stradee dresses in riding cloths, asks P&L if it's ok to bring Jack for a run, and heads out to the stables where she finds Palamino greeting Hoft's new Standard/Quarter Horse. Soon as Hoft picks her darling horses name, then we can bring horses and Jack for a run in the park.

Scarlett O'Hara.................let's see.........giggle.

Ivory Champagne

Horse: Beloved Angel (American Saddlebred)

Stradee, I've chosen Beloved Angel. Can I come along for a ride too. Oh Jack, what a nice kiss! Snuzzle

And Blatham, "MY GOD IN HEAVEN" must be an understatement.......let's try "Holy Mackerell." That's a bit more descriptive and so much more fun. And there's always the question of who said it first. Very Happy

<Lola kisses Blatham and tells him she's so glad to see him.>

And HIAMA, Tex Ritter is always right, even if he is a ghost. You should listen to his words. They are prophetic. Great song of yours as well. <kiss to HIAMA>

Yes you may Lola ~

Beloved Angel the perfect choice ~ American Saddlebred's amazing.

We'll wait for Hoft to pick her horse, then all posse to the park with Jack.

Stradee saddles Palamino <Sweet Dancer> whistles to Jack who bounds from the Salon after givng P&L a big doggie smooch, then Lola and Stradee wait patiently for Hoft to pick her horse <Hoft still conversing with Tara (too funny) > as Jack playfully tugs at Hofts cell phone.

Well, fer god's sake, <err, roes sake > there's Blatham! Warm hugs then the woman lead their darling horses toward the park.

Damn lot of kissin goin on here. Think I ought to saddle up old Buttons. Old Buttons is my kind of horse - if he was a man, he'd be a lazy drunkard with no good reason to go anywhere in a hurry. Old Buttons is so slow that rather than climb a mountain, you might just as well wait till it erodes. My kind of horse, old Buttons.

And I said it first.

I'm going to wear those big furry chaps that come pre-bowlegged. And a twelve gallon hat with two holes cut above the brim to look through. And spurs. Ben Hur chariot spurs. And a bolo tie with a checked shirt. My boots will be dusty and I'll spit chaw so hard there will be a richochet sound when I spit. First Nations indigenous settlers will quake at the sight of me, perhaps making me a local god. Virgins, well, what can you say about them? Railroad tycoons will seek out my services and stagecoach lines will want me riding shotgun, which means I need to find a really small saddle. I'll have a sidekick named Shakey or Geezer or Fifi. Bank robbers will tip their hats with deference to my reputation, wondering why I went over to the other side. I'll win every target shooting event I care to enter and, for fun, will shoot the earrings off the bartender's ears then stop the bullet with my Bowie knife before it slams into the bosoms painted on the wall behind the bar. And virgins, what can you say about them?

Hiama pulls his steed alongside and spits a plug, Hiama, a big man with frosty blue eyes, graying hair, a bristly full mustache and an air of grave and resolute authority has a .44 on his hip.

Hiama and Blatham are advancing at a steady walk, both men leaning slightly out of their saddles to study the terrain -- the trail they are following. Out to one side they can see Stradee, Lola and Hoft galloping ahead of them the dust swirling up in a cloud that threatens to choke them.

" Fancy a drink pardner ", Hiama spits the words out before the dust can get in. " Don't mind if I do, got any of that Tennessee sipping whiskey ?" Blatham replies, he is not a man to drink water when whiskey is on offer.

The ladies look back at the men and shout for them to get a move on as the sun is beginning to set.......

Danon was having a good laugh at the two men on horseback just in front of him. One looked the 'spitting' image of Don Quixote and the other closely resembled his sidekick Sancho Panza. They were all puffed up and important looking at first glance and having a nip of something in a quart jar.

'Hi there guys' said danon as he neared them, 'Everyone's out on horseback today so I thought I'd take Scorpion out too'. Danon easily flipped a playful lariat loop at Sancho who ducked it.

Diane comes galloping up on her very attractive, but slightly long-in-the tooth, horse, Dulcinea.
Hey, HIAMA and Blatham, if you spit into the wind, you'll always be a little damp and smell, well, ugh.
(When will these guys get the cowboy act right? Haven't they ever been to shrub's place in Texas?)
Danon, please help them out. They know not what they do.

'Lordy mercy, Ms Diane' said danon trying for his absolutely most down home southern sound (it isn't easy you know). 'These boys are just having some fun - in a boy sort of way' danon had to stop in order to suppress, stifle and/or otherwise try to hide a snicker. Feeling that an outright laugh was upon him danon quickly tickled Sancho's horse with the toe of his boot in a place that was sure to make it start jumping a little. Sure enough that pony started to crow hop gently straight ahead and that took the heat off danon long enough for him to let out a howl of mirth. Whew, it went unnoticed, at least he thought.

Sweet horsewhispers to Scorpion "Yo Scorp, it's Yosemite Sam and Fast Draw Mcgraw" ~ "Sure hope Stradee and Danon quit laughing soon ~ not sure if Strads singling a gallop or stop". "Yep" whispers Scorpion, "and they wonder why our ears rotate" Smile

"Hi Diane" greets Stradee "Look, there's a meadow just over the next rise.
Lets bring the horses there and we can all sit and enjoy the lunch Withers prepared. By the way ~ Dulcinea looking mighty spiffy and strong" Stradee compliments Diane on her horse care skills.

Now, first off, let's clarify exactly where we are taking this little horsey ride. Stradee had the idea of taking a ride in "the park", meaning Washington Square Park? Central Park? Fair Park? or Danon's back 40 park? Given that we're spittin tobacca, and drankin whiskey, I suggist we place ar-selves somewhur in North Eastern Texas on a niiiiice dusty coun'try trail, headed toward Dallas. Final desteration...........uh, let's see.......Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth? No, too purdictable and unsophistercated for aur swanky little group. After all them i-maginary vur-gins and checkered shirts and knife throwin, I 'spect we'll need a small portion of city fun.

Uh, uh.......maybe I should ask the others where they would like to go (after our ride, of course.)

Giggy-ap, champagne horse beneath me.........<pat pat pat on the neck in an affectionate way, whispering sweet nothins into the horsey ears......encouraging.......you know......friendly like> let's go fer a gallop!

And as we gallop along, I must comment that HIAMA and Blatham look much too authentic to be working off of TV serials alone for reference......one of the them, at least, must have been in Shurb country at one time or another.

'My God!! Not Shrub country!! Well, thats a heck of a long way from where we are here in NE Texas. Not too dusty here either, lots of trees both deciduous and evergreen, plenty of grass. Thats the reason the old Chisom Trail for the big cattle drives came through here. Lots of fodder. Not at all like in the old movies.

Danon's back forty is just the place to stop for awhile - on our way to ?? Dallas ??

Thanks Danon ~ there's a pond and plenty of grazing area for the horses.

Saddles placed in a cool place ~ Stradee offers everyone a cold bottle of
Corona, perfect accent for Withers western fare.

Horses ambling quietly ~ the north 40 supplying plenty of water and food

"Where we goin'? Stradee asks Lola " Texas a good place, although I don't know much about the state. Maybe Danon can be our guide? "
