I'm sorry you're feeling not so well, HIAMA. The sandwich sounds good. Wither's? Will you bring one up to me too when you get a chance? I'm still working.

You know, HIAMA. I was looking at your signature line. I was thinking about that cafe. I miss it sometimes. I wonder if it might be a good idea to talk to Wassau and see about re-opening. Maybe after I'm done with all this work. Go on back to Bleecker and MacDougall and open up. That location was actually a very good one.

I think Withers has been nipping behind the bar -- he's been putting Ex Lax in the drinks. Now I don't know whether I'm coming or going.

very funny, LW.......Laughing. very funny

But I think you may have a virus because Withers would never do such a thing. He's the ideal helper.

I hope you feel better soon.

We all seem to be a little bit under the weather. I could never understand that saying. Of course, we are under the weather. If we were on top of it, we'd be in space.

I don't think Withers did it on purpose -- I ordered my usual Godiva chocolate martini and I think he mistook his own medication. He did say he's been backing up lately and I don't think he's also the chaffauer.

Laughing........no I think Withers wasn't meaning anything about driving a car. However, he might mean that he's found himself in a few tight spots lately and has had to back out of them. Still, you may be right.

Lola!! My god you look good, but of course you always do. Let's use your clicker to go to Venice and pop in Harry's Bar for a nice drink. No telling who we shall see there and it seems you need a break from whatever you are doing behind closed doors. Are you writing again?

Keep to the grindstone Lola, you do have that deadline! BTW, have you seen the lead article in the lastest National Geographics? If not take a look, it is very sad and unbelievable, even though I already knew most of the details; but not until now in such a comprehensive form..................

My nose is grinding, BillW. Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, that GD deadline. Poohy! Tell what is the subject of the lead article. I haven't the time to look it up right now, but now you've made me curious.

Howdy there Ms Lola! Good seeing you away from work, if only for a few minutes. Eva's graciously given me a clicker, however, not sure exactly about the coordinates. Venice? Are we dressing for dinner?
Does anyone mind my wearing safari cloths and Lands End Boots?
Clicking to Swaziland for an appointment with the King. Please tell me how accurate the clickers are due to quick exit. Planning on giving the King a wedgie - actually 7 - for each elephant he gave to San Diego Zoo.

Cav, I've brought A Vegtable Bouquet with Dill Dressing. All freshly picked organic veggies ~ adding to your array of fine foods.

Bill W, checked out National Geographic page. What article are you speaking about? NG's features are regarding memory in animals, a snake hunter (ugg), some sort of dino vomit (double yuk) - and new maps featured.

Appreciate the info ~ thanks.

Lightwizard, don't drink milk. Rice water and Soy will cure whatever ails ya.

Well ya all ~ Swaziland awaits. Eva, thanks for invite plus clicker.

Note to Danon ~ if I can't escape quick enough, please stand by with Chopper. Thanks

Also, a hearty "Hi" from our traveler ~ Hoft Smile

Lightwizard, try the brat diet, it even works for adults -

bananas, raisins, apples (apple sauce works also) and toast!

Another good remedy is Martinelli's Apple Juice (not cider-juice).

Rice water stops running-to-the-bathroom-every-second cold.

LW - Hope your feeling better soon

I'm sure LW thanks you all for those suggestions. Now, Stradee, ehBeth or BillW, do any of you have a nice remedy for Withers' problem? He really shouldn't be taking all those laxatives, it's not good for him. I'm a little short on such remedies. I've led a deprived life in many ways.

Bill W called for the music and I feel the same way, then I'm going back to work:

No. 8 on Ten New Songs, Leonard Cohen
- You Have Loved Enough

I said I'd be your lover.
You laughed at what I said.
I lost my job forever.
I was counted with the dead.

I swept the marble chambers,
But you sent me down below.
You kept me from believing
Until you let me know:

That I am not the one who loves -
It's love that seizes me.
When hatred with his package comes,
You forbid delivery.

And when the hunger for your touch
Rises from the hunger,
You whisper, "You have loved enough,
Now let me be the Lover."

I swept the marble chambers,
But you sent me down below.
You kept me from believing
Until you let me know:

That I am not the one who loves -
It's love that chooses me.
When hatred with his package comes,
You forbid delivery.

And when the hunger for your touch
Rises from the hunger ...

Dear Withers should definitely drink lots of water. Plenty of veggies and more exercise.

Lola, would it be ok if Withers swam in the pool before duties, and after work? With the money he saves from not buying laxatives, he can purchase a complete gym set! Yep, exercise and fresh food the key.

I know! Lets have a surprise party for Withers! He'll be delighted and what better way for him to relax! We'll hire caterers and cleaning crew
also inviting Fifi to the celebration ~ both enjoying the holiday.

Bet if ya call Wassau..........

Stradee my lovely, I am walking and breathing proof of the power of veggies, lots of water, soya, seeds, fruit and a disciplined exercise regime. Occasional tuna and salmon for those nice omega fatty acids.

I have discovered muscles I never knew I had and this weekend cycled 25 very hilly miles, ran 3 miles at 7-8 minute mile pace and did a 30 minute weights session. My waist has come down 5 inches in 5 months and younger women look at me again-strangely comforting for a child of the very early 50's - just Very Happy

I think its called the male meno-porsche

very funny, HIAMA and I'm proud of you too. Excellent......maybe someday I'll really make time for the gym. But not until next week.

Sounds like a good plan Stradee. But I'm afraid Withers may be a bit too neurotic to allow it. I'll talk to Wassau, he's not, after all doing much lately.

I've been thinking, actually about shutting this house down and leasing a small apartment on Thompson or Prince. This house is just too much trouble. I can pay Withers' retirement, he's really ready to retire, dear faithful man. And Fifi and Jeffers will have no trouble at all finding work. They're both so good at what they do. I think I'll auction off all this stuff I have around here. It's nice to have possessions, but when your stuff begins to rule your life...........well, it's either me or my stuff and I think I'll definitely choose me. Wassau can open up the cafe again, there's been a lot of clamoring for that to happen from old customers and I think the atmosphere is much more pleasant, actually, in the cafe than here. More relaxed and fun. And I do so love Wassau. I'm taking my books, desk, bed and perhaps a kitchen table, but I think I'll eat mostly at Cafe 101. I love the company of my friends, and I just hate to cook. Or I like it, actually, but not more than study and writing and work. I can't do everything I like to do anyway. And I do hate to clean up dishes! I just hate it.

My new apartment will be decorated with a lot of pillows and plants by the windows. Indian bedspreads and beads separating the bedroom from the living room......or maybe a loft. That would be very nice. If I have a loft, I'm going to have a swing. Wouldn't that be fun? But I'm not leaving my clothes behind, I don't have to get that drastic. I can build a big walk in closet for this remaining indulgence. We'll see, but it's what I'm thinking about........
