What ever Jerry is serving I want a double helping
How wonderful! Two new guests at the Salon!
Redhorn, you will find that Lola stocks only the best wines and liquors. Whatever you want, you only have to whisper it to Withers or Jeffers, they'll prepare it perfectly in no time at all. See? Here's your martini...
Husker, I do hope you're feeling much better these days. What a scare you've had! Yes, do sit down and have something to eat with us....Mmmm, it looks like Cavfancier has sent over some of that raw-milk brie he's been talking about...oh yes, that IS good!
So thoughtful of Jeffers to set different colored crystal at each place setting! Now I won't confuse my drinks with anyone else's. I hate it when that happens.
Yes, it is nice of Jeffers to do that with the glassware. Both red and white wine glasses, as well as water. No sharing germs around here. Laugh.......sure there isn't. But not by drinking after one another, that's true.
Lola sits back in her chair to enjoy some music as she rests for a while.
Who Are You
(Tom Waits/K. Brennan)
They're lining up
To mad dog your tilta whirl
3 shots for a dollar
Win a real live doll
All the lies that you tell
I believed them so well, Take them back
Take them back to your red house
For that fearful leap into the dark
I did my time
In the jail of your arms
Now Ophelia wants to know
Where she should turn
Tell me... What did you do,
What did you do the last time?...
Why don't you do that
Go on ahead take this the wrong way
Time's not your friend
Do you cry, Do you pray
Do you wish them away
Do you still leave nothing
But bones in the way
Did you bury the carnival
Lions and all
Excuse me while I sharpen my nails
And just who are you this time?
You look rather tired
(Who drinks from your shoe)
Are you pretending to love
Well I hear that it pays well
How do your pistol and your Bible and your
Sleeping pills go.
Are you still jumping out of windows in expensive clothes?
Well I fell in love
With your sailor's mouth and your wounded eyes.
You better get down on the floor
Don't you know this is war
Tell me who are you this time?
Tell me who are you this time?
Hmm...that glassware better be Riedel...have I been here, or just been mentioned? The mind wanders when fabulous ice carvings are on the mind...
Is it Riedel, Cav? I'll go look, sec............
No, they're signed. It looks like Vivian Glam or something like that. Beautiful aren't they? I just love them.
Ice carving? What is it going to be this time?
An ice carving of George Bush in drag, of course. GQ has already shown him as Jesus.
The Wizardmobile's bar only has Baccarat glasswear and a champagne dispensing sterling silver fountain. Is that too showy? I had it filled with 1985 Roederer Crystal but Lola and Husker have polished it off.
That's why they were found passed out on the front lawn this morning.
I have a champagne-filled pool and fountains of melted chocolate (one dark, one white) at my dinner party in Venice. Several of our friends are already there. Cav is preparing a sumptuous feast. YOU ARE ALL INVITED! Dust off the tuxedos and tiaras and come join us!

I shall dust off my hat, scrape my boots, don a clean shirt and, perhaps comb my hair. Dinner at eight?
Is it alright if I come in my matronly house dress? I've been working and just don't have the time to dress. But the food sounds great. On my way in a sec. I can at least put a little blush on my cheeks and some lipstick in all the places where it belongs.
Lola, please keep the lipstick to yourself this time -- last time I looked like that lady in "Airplane" when you finished. I'm afraid that tuxedos and tiaras are out for me -- are the Fab Five dressing everybody here?
Why, of COURSE you may come, Dys! Dinner will be served shortly. (Cav will let us know as soon as it is ready.)
A frumpy housedress for our Lola?! Never! My hairstylist and couturier are awaiting your arrival, and you will find a few baubles in the powder room to complete your attire.
Lightwizard...you may wear as much (or as little) as it takes to make you comfortable. Come take a look around the room. Everyone looks simply divine.
It is lovely here, Eva. Thanks for the dinner and the spruce up. I needed some help. Now it's back to work. I'm feeling irratable and I'm afraid I've been rude to a few people. Life is so complicated sometimes.................. sigh.
Back home Lola asks Withers to put on some Tom Waits and she goes back to her study to complete her work:
That Feel
(Keith Richards/Tom Waits)
Well there's one thing you can't lose
It's that feel
Your pants, your shirt, your shoes
But not that feel.
You can throw it out in the rain
You can whip it like a dog
You can chop it down like an old dead tree
You can always see it
When you're coming into town
Once you hang it on the wall
You can never take it down
But there's one thing you can't lose
And it's that feel
You can pawn your watch and chain
But not that feel
It always comes and finds you
It will always hear you cry
I cross my wooden leg
And I swear on my glass eye
It will never leave you high and dry
Never leave you loose
It's harder to get rid of than tattoos
But there's one thing you can't do
Is lose that feel
You can throw it off a bridge
You can lose it in a fire
You can leave it at the altar
But it will make you out a liar
You can fall down in the street
You can leave it in the lurch
Well you say that it's gospel
But I know that it's only church
And there's one thing you can't lose
And it's that feel
It's that feel
Stradee enters the salon, and wonders where everyone is?
Withers says "Good evening Stradee. Welcome back to the Salon. Did you enjoy your vacation?"
"Oh yes, Withers, thank you. My grandson thoroughly enjoyed visiting for the summer, and we had a most marvelous vacation."
"Where is Madam'? asks Stradee.
"Miss Lola's been in her study for days" says Withers.
"Then we won't disturb her" says Stradee. "I've brought wonderful Jamaican coffee, and also wine from the Napa Valley for Lola, you, and Ms. Fifi. Please tell Madam I stopped in to say "hi" and hope all is well".
Stradee sees the invitation to Eva's party and smiles. Stradee would love traveling through Italy also. Hmmm, perhaps next summer....
The hors d'oeuvres are being assembled in Venice as we speak....
Nummy, can't wait.
Howdy Stradee. I hope you're doing well. Sorry I'm so busy with working. But I'll re-emerge in about a week. Hopefully with all my work completed.
Call me Cav, when the d'oeuvres are being served. I'll click myself over right away. If you're doing the preparation, I'm sure they will be good. Can we have a little preview?
Ah ah ah! No touching the hors d'oeuvres! You must wait like the rest of us, I'm afraid.
All work and no play will make Lola a very dull girl, you know. And we certainly can't have that!!! (Be sure to pick up a clicker for Stradee, too.)
I'm feeling a little bit peckish, now where did I leave that clicker ?
Hiama disappears for a moment whilst Withers fixes him a nice brandy and a tuna fish sandwich on rye, with dill sauce.
