Come on Viz, let's run upstairs and get ready for dinner with the barbarians............. BillW and Dys suggest we throw in our line with some bait and then BillW makes a suggestion for proper attire with the barbs. Let's see.............now, the bait..........

Withers? We'll need plastic sheeting on the floor and walls in the dining room tonight. We're expecting some exuberant guests.

Ooooh, Lola! (peering into secret closet) I never would have expected this of you!

How about this snake-looking thingy that goes around my hips & winds around my waist? I could wear it with this...(holds up green satin bikini top)...and this...(black leather choker)...

What do you think, Lola? Do I look like...bait?

Robert Kitchenaide, refrigerator repairman of Marin County, steps out of his white panel truck and straps on his tool belt. Grabbing a handful of Slim Jims that he sticks in the front pocket of his twill gaberdine trousers, Robert ambles towards the door of Lola's Salon and rings the bell. Lola takes him by the arm and guides him towards the wine cellar and explains that the temperature is varying more than the 3 degress required in her contract with Acme Refrigeration Co. "Model 600 Supra Chill" Robert says as he fumbles in his tool belt for a flashlight and analogue thermometer, barely noticing the numerous pairs of eyes following his every move. He hikes up his trousers covering the wide elastic band of his boxer shorts and the label "EverLast" disappears from view. "Ms Lola" he says "this here is the finest wine cooler made in Marin County and i am sure i can fix it." "This ain't no New York City Wine Cooler, its build to last." Viz is transfixed watching his hands holding the flashlight and thinking he has the biggest thumbs she has ever seen.

Dys watches Viz and whispers in her ear "sincerity, that refigerator repairman reeks of sincerity." But Viz cant take her eyes off his thumbs so Dys picks up the bottle of Markers Mark that Diane left on the table, sits down in the corner, pulls his hat down over his eyes and watches the room. Brahms Viloin Concerto is playing in the background. "Its going to be an interesting night" Dys opines to himself.

Fifi is on top of her job. She sees Dys sitting with his hat over his eyes, relaxed as if he's to be the observer for the evening. Turning quickly, Fifi calls Prudence and whispers something in her ear.

"The tool belts are upstairs in the large yellow guest room closet. Bring one for Mr. Dyslexia. He'll not want to be left out of the fun tonight."

Diane rushes through the front door, out of breath, yelling to Lola, "Have I missed anything?" Lola shakes her head and tells Diane to go upstairs to find something more appropriate to wear for dinner. Diane, however, has packed a little something and heads off to change while checking out the refrigeration man with those incredible thumbs. Ooh, those thumbs will be pulling down that tool belt in no time--I'd better hurry before Viz loses all control.

After a relaxing but short bubble bath and a change of clothing, Diane comes back down wearing short, short jean shorts with a bolero top. The top only has one little tie holding it together. A red bandana is showing at the top of her hip pocket. Her cowboy boots set off the rest of the garb perfectly. A few strategically placed pieces of turquoise and a spritz of perfume and she's ready for company; company wearing toolbelts.

Oh man, will I be able to pull this off? Will the bandana be large enough if I wimp out? How can Lola and Viz be so cool? Because they are cool, you wimp! she says to herself. Noticing Dys resting in the armchair, with his hat pulled down over his eyes, she thinks his hat will provide additional coverage in case she loses her nerve completely, assuming he would be willing to part with his hat!

There goes the doorbell. I wonder who Withers will show in next? Hmm, I'm just steps from the coat closet, maybe I could just slip into a nice London Fog.

Dys wonders if that little tie is a bow knot and just what is that bandana for anyway but Diane, Viz and Lola's are eyes afixed on Robert Kitchenaide.

Withers is not shocked, as usual, to find a large number of tool belted barbarians at the door. He announces their arrival.

Clearing his voice, he says, "The barbarians are at the door, madam."

"oh, Withers, show them into the dining room right away."

To hell with the thumbs! Viz is eyeing the repairman's boxer shorts and wondering if "Everlast" means what it says...!!

Oh, come on out of that closet, Diane. Look, here's a pair of rhinestone-encrusted Blahniks that will make your legs look as long as Lola's... Besides, that tall, handsome cowboy over there in the corner seems to like your Western get-up...(hint, hint)

..... Unbeknownst to Salon guests, rustlers have quietly rounded up the beautiful horses all those barbarian cowboys rode in on and loaded them on railroad cars on their way to horse slaughterhouses in Texas!

Hiama - Stradee wouldn't worry about proper attribution, but for the record the link and excerpt originated in Stradee's own thread on another site; sorry didn't make that sufficiently clear earlier.

<.....Marycat, Hiama, and HofT fly off in pursuit of the vile horse rustlers who stole the Salon's thoroughbreds and are heading for the illegal Texas slaughterhouses ....... Suspense!!!!! <G> >

Lola quickly changes into her cowgirl outfit and grabs her clicker. Gotta get those horse rustlers before they get to Texas.

Withers passes out clickers to all at Salon, including the toolbelted barbarians..........

Lola's
Hoft and Stradee atop their horses are seen jumping over Stable corral fence in pursuit of rustlers rig.

Darling horses sailing, fire and smoke emitting from perfectly shod hoofs ~ land at Austins Senate building with placards also millions of letters and determination not seen since Wildhorse Annie weilded a crop toward Pecos The-Mustang-Killer Bubba whilst in the midst of rustling Annie's mustangs.
Not a pretty sight, however, Bubba saw the light that day and he'll be attending the protest against horse slaughter on May 9th.

Thanking all for wonderful stories about old houses, living peacefully in rural areas, quaint English villages, majestic Italian Alps, and hearts of the city ~

Geeze Lola, your Barbarian friends are sitting on top of the dining room table tossing bones at the fireplace! "EEK" yells Fifi "Madam, can we replace the fine china and crystal with something less valuable, like paper plates?"

Well why call up Matt Dillon and raise a posse. They could cut the rustlers off at the pass, though we send the Barbarians after then and Geronimo and his renegades.
