I'm ashamed that he's from Texas. I liked every minute I lived there. My kid still lives in Big D.

Texans ought to write him and ask him if he wouldn't please stop talking like a mushmouth and to consider what a nice place his dad has up there in Maine. He can still cut brush and ride his bike, but would he please pleasse stop pretending to be a rancher or a farmer or a cattleman, those are good, honest upright jobs and shouldn't be sullied by the likes of him.

You notice he's stopped talking about being an oilman, that's a start.

And mysteryman makes the claim that he had never heard of any death threats proving once again that if you have your head up your ass, not just up to your ears, but all the way up past your chin, you can miss as much of the important stuff as you want, while concentrating on the stuff that doesn't really matter, but sounds good. See George W. Bush for multiple examples.

Since you claim I ignored it,please show me anyplace that said there were death threats made.

MM, come on, if you followed the story in any of the media, especially the one about their recent single which is ABOUT the death threats you would have seen or read about them.

Thats just the point.

I didnt follow the story, for several reasons.

THe biggest reason being I didnt care.
I have never been a big fan of the Dixie Chicks(but they did have some good songs).

And also,I really didnt care what she said.
I think she should not have said what she did overseas, but that was my only complaint.

IMHO,this whole story is "much ado about nothing".

She definitely should NOT have said what she said, MM. She should have said,

"Just so you know, we're ashamed that the president of the United States is from the United States."

And strange that, that freedom of speech stops when you exit the USA. Shocked

She was free to say whatever she wanted.
I am curious how you figure that anybody, including me, is trying to deny her freedom of speech.
I disagree with the location she used to make her statement,I am not saying she didnt have the right to say it.

BTW,there are many countries where freedom of speech is not allowed,so you can say that in effect "freedom of speech stops when you exit the USA."

Where is it written that anyone needs to be happy about her freedom of speech? Wishing she'd stuff her mouth with some bacon instead of mouthing off about the president is hardly denying her freedom of anything. I heard Clinton likes chubs. Perhaps he could keep her quite somehow.

McGentrix, hahaha. You've really hurt a lot of feelings here calling Natalie a chub. I hope no one slashes their wrists over this. http://www.dixiechicksfans.net/natalie/slade06.jpg

Snood: No the words are "crude" and "no class"

I have a new phone and my ring tone is " Not Ready to Make Nice". It fits me too, as I am not ready to make nice either. Someone has to speak out against wrong and she did and I salute her for it. She has courage, brains, and beauty....and class. Somethings are priceless.

You can say that but it only serves as proof of your profound ignorance of the world and your overblown sense that the USA somehow stands alone as as the bastion of free speech.

This debacle in Iraq, the muzzling of free speech, by the government in power no less, not to mention the Dixie Chicks issue clearly illustrates that the USA is not really all it's cracked up to be.
