I've been in the others shoes, thanks.

I'm not denying that there are republicans that are against these things. I just don't feel that it is a built in republican dogma. I think more and more everyday that people just don't care. To try to paint all conservatives with this brush is just not true.
Oh... and me a moderate??? Only when it comes to some things
A born-again liberal? ;-)
(i consider myself a liberal, and I don't particularly like to be a republican defender, but I find generalizations and stereotypes dangerous and don't approve of using them against any group)

I'll bet you thought reformed smokers were bad, huh!

Which view point are you referring to?
I am defending myself in the manner that I don't like to be painted in a color that doesn't suit me. If you are trying to insinuate something, why don't you just come out and say it.
nope, my mother is one. it is funny you mention that though - reformed smokers hate practicing smokers more than anyone else.

If you're a republican, I didn't insinuate anything, did I?? I think I've been rather upfront!

You said: "Yes, it appears he has already joined an organization that does the first aleady!"
I wasn't sure what part of Chrisees post you were referring to (since it was a quote within a quote). I asked you to clarify. What is so difficult about that?
Walter said:
..........those are exactly those institutions who have 'morality written on forehead' as one of the most importants criteria for joining their "forces".
.
That is a valid point. Conservatives and the religious right are forever preaching about family values and moral fiber.
.

My point, exactly!

well, i dislike that about reformed smokers....

Do you vote Republican? If you do, you support an organization that in chriisy's words "opposes reproductive rights, marriage equality, full civil rights for LGBTs etc. " In other words JP, you're supporting a darkly bigoted, hateful organization with your vote!
She later changed the wording ...

I also agree with Walter. You don't expect people in responsible positions to be raging freaks of nature. Doesn't matter what party you belong to, it's reprehensible. Now I do believe that trying to seduce a 14 year old cancer surviver (the cop's id) is more offensive and dangerous than getting a BJ from a consenting adult, but we all remember the hue and cry during Clinton's time in the White House. He may have been a dog, but at least he liked grown women, not little girls or boys. Our elected officials are like the rest of the population, some have healthy attitudes about sex and boundaries and others are creeps. I bet if you were to poll every woman you know, each one would be able to tell stories of how someone made inappropriate remarks, inappropriate touches and the old standby of yesteryear, the obscene phone call (Caller id stopped that).
Personally I have never asked any of the people I encountered which party they belonged to, I just made sure there was a lot of distance between me and them.
Regarding the point one person made about how Doyle managed to get this responsible position.......He had a Secret Clearance which requires an extensive background check. I think it would be easy to hide your sick desire for children because most people who do, don't advertise it, for the obvious reasons. No one would ever let them near a child for the rest of their lives. People who have Secret Clearance are not subject to polygraphs which are better at routing out any lifestyle issues that would deny a person special access to sensitive material. And when I say lifestyle, I mean the drug-dealers, users, pedophiles, not the garden variety person who once cheated on their spouse.
Oh, by the way, has anyone seen the TV news today? Apparently during testimony, Scotter Libby acknowledged that the information about Valerie Plame was passed to Cheney by President Bush. I saw the news item on MSNBC, so I flipped to Fox to see how long it would take for them to report the story. They delayed the "Breaking New" by 45 minutes and had two experts to comment on the meaning of it all. Fair and balanced as always.
dagmaraka wrote:why are you sorry ?
I hate to disappooint you so, because I am like the reformed smoker ... I truly detest the Republican Party and practically everything they stand for! The hipocrisy, and the hatred they maintain for their fellow man makes me want to puke!
Bring a reborn liberal and all!!

actually, glitterbag, that is not quite true. Yes, it's been proven that the secret information leak was authorized by Bush, but not the leak of her identity. At least that's how NPR is formulating it right now.
You used to be a Republican, then?
Interesting.
I very much agree with Dag's take. I do think there is some limited interest as Walter points out -- that morality family values yadda yadda are such a cornerstone of the conservative credo that when these blatant internal contradictions come out they're worth noting -- but I can't get too exercised beyond that.
