So, I think I have been accepted to the program...... I haven't received an acceptance letter, but I did receive mail inviting me to use the MyAccount service at the school and have been given an ID#. More to come, hopefully over the next couple days.

Thanks! Getting cold feet again. Now, I'm all worried about being on the front lines in the case of flu epidemics. I guess we'll all be on the frontline if a big epidemic comes.

That's weird that it's so roundabout! I hope you get a proper acceptance letter soon, but that sounds very promising!

LittleK, I havn't read this thread, but I did read you initial statement and Dys' wise comment. I would add that there are pluses and minuses in both an extreme directionless and extreme self-directed way of being. But on the whole they are problems only insofar as thinking makes them so. In my youth I was very directionless--I didn't start college until I was 28. Later in life I became very self-directed. Now in my retirement I've returned to a more "spontaneous" way of being. My wife, who I have married twice (in my youth then again in my mature years) has commented on the contrast in my "personality." As I say--as one who has been both-- there are both advantages and disadvantages in both; it's not a "psychological" matter except when it is so extreme that it prevents you from achieving your strongly desired goals. If it does not, no problem. In middle class American culture we think there is something irresponsible in being directionless and obsessive-compulsive ambition is seen as "responsible." Don't be fooled into feelings of guilt. Just be as you are. All of us A2Kers would agree with Dys that that is itself quite an achievement.

Well, I don't think being directionless is bad. It gives you a freedom most people don't have because they get so tied down in the worries of the day. Trying to climb that corporate ladder and such. I'm somewhat directionless... LOL sorta. In some aspects of my life. My job doesn't happen to be one of them anymore because I finally found a job I love doing. Though there are many aspects that are rather free... out there... go with the flow kind of thing. I like it. Very Happy

LILK!! That's great! (Congratulations!!!!!!, but pending.) Do you think you might start a thread when you find out? I was really enjoying Craven's "college thread," but alas I think college is keeping him too busy to add to it. I'd love a journal about your experience!! It could helpful to other students, as well. (That was self-serving!) Very Happy

<fingers crossed for LilK!!>

Wow littlek, I haven't caught up with all the threads I've been interested in because of staying away from a2k for a couple of weeks.

This is wonderful and I not at all surprised that you were accepted. This is a very exciting road you are taking--full of opportunity. Most important, your presence will affect and improve many lives over the course of your career.

Now, if the bastiges decide that you are not accepted and the letter never comes, just sue the hell out of 'em.
