You think Gross would have asked OReilly about things they have in common, like this...
Quote:
Fresh Air with Terry Gross has received a number of awards, including the prestigious Peabody Award in 1994...

Yeah, she must be awful because she didn't ask OReilly about how he felt when he won his 2 or was it 3 Peabodies.

You'd think she'd have challenged Franken on his use of Harvard letterhead to send false letters to members of the Bush administration.

I wonder if O'R had done the same to members of the DNC--if she'd have given him a pass--as she did Franken.

So, Franken's **** just don't stink...?

Listening to Franken rates right there with listening to O'R, Savage, or Limbaugh.

And that means?

We shouldn't hold comedians to the same standards as television personalities?

Being public clowns, comedians can resort to lies and deception whenever they make a foray into politics?

The **** of comedians doesn't stink?

Terry Gross is not a judge; nor is she a news reporter. She is the host of a radio program who likes to stretch out the pronunciation of Frrrrresssh Aaaaairrrr.

There is no professionally ethical requirement that she be fair to her guests.

O'Reilly is a pompous ass, and was a fool to get up and leave the studio during the interview, however I am astounded by anyone who professes to listen to Fresh Air with any regularity, who is prepared to claim that Gross was not obviously (and unusually) antagonistic towards Bill-O.

Gross interviews interesting and odd ball guests and so her show is a good listen, but she is a "C" interviewer.

Just the other night she had on her show some guy who was an expert on the original RKO King Kong movie. Unbelievably, Terry asks him if he thinks Merian C. Cooper, the director of King Kong, was into S&M bondage because of the scenes where Fay Wray was tied up by the "natives," and taken from her NYC apartment by the giant hand of Kong.

What Kong's hand lifting Fay (Ann Darrow) from her high rise bed has to do with S&M is beyond me, but even where restraints are obvious, (natives sacrificing Fay, and Kong in NY) the notion that there is a S&M sub-text is utterly absurd.

Her guest was stupefied by the question, but after a long several seconds, told her what an ass she was in a very gentlemanly fashion.

I admit that this is terrible, but I was so disappointed when I saw her. She has a sexy voice...

Where has it been documented that Franken ever lied? I guess you classify him satrirically claiming he won a Peabody a lie?

Yes, I would hate to admit it if I were a sexist white male pig as well.

Illegitmate use of Harvard letterhead is a lie --- or don't you think so?

Fanken was legitimized in using Harvard letterhead. He was a fellow at Harvard when he wrote those letters. You might argue he lied to the politicians when he told them he was writing a book on abstinence, and invited them to share their abstinence story. Even that is debatable, as the letter he wrote is so absurdly exaggerated that it's doubtful anyone would take it serious. But in any case, he didn't lie to his readers, whom he told this was a prank.

LOL, Thomas. Fangken would work.

I don't like either one of 'em...(O'Reilly or Franken and I've never heard Terry Gross' program), but at least I'm not forced to support O'Reilly (however involuntarily).

A fine example of the value of your contributions to this site, Setanta. Typically rude and crude denigration and gratuitous insults directed at other posters.

Poor puppy! Perhaps some obedience school would help. Have you been neutered yet Idea I hear that helps with those pesky behavior problems.
