That's the important part. Glad to hear you found the positive side, Rae. Smile

My rant for the evening: I'm getting a bit tired of toothless trailer trash ranting at me about how bad our customer service is. I'll admit, CS isn't stellar right now in the midst of staffing cutbacks, but I wouldn't have cleaned up your kid's vomit either! You're the one who let a four year old run around the store in nothing but a diaper, B*TCH; it's your own fault if he ran until he was sick!

Long story short: The kid hurled in the middle of the cosmetics department. One of the salespeople did exactly what he was supposed to do; he alerted a manager and called housekeeping. The kid's mother, who was high on something, then had the stones to tell him he was not a real man because he didn't clean up after the kid himself. When the salesperson defended himself to the "customer," she berated him at the top of her lungs then tore a piece out of me when I walked over to try and diffuse the situation. Ya know what, lady? I would've told you to crawl back into your trailer too if my salesperson hadn't beaten me to it!

{{{{Rae}}}}

Seems to me quite a few folks had a rough Thursday. Oh well, misery loves company and we all had a lot of company. Shocked

The funniest thing about that customer, which I didn't even realise until Friday was that she was royally pissed because the salesperson told her to shut up but not because he called her trailer trash. The whole story is far too long for me to go into right now, but six people (three employees and three customers) completely defended the salesperson in question in spite of the name calling. "She started it." Laughing

When I relayed the story to my store manager the next morning he asked me, "Did you tell him it was wrong to call the customer 'trailer trash?'" I said, "Of course I did. . .as soon as I stopped laughing."

I think you can justify violent action by later stating to the authorities, "That employee was revolting."

(to borrow a phrase....)

A quick scan of their verse structure would indicate that the name AABB would have been more appropriate.

I think playing ABBA would justify the fellow employee's lynching.

Can I rant about good stuff? Oh wait, I started this....I can rant about whatever I want. Smile

Here's one for the "It Pays to Be a Team Player" file:

It's inventory time...that wonderful time of year when retail employees tear their hair out and scream for no apparent reason. We help each other out because it's what we do. After fifteen years in this business I think I've figured out how to run an inventory and, knowing that my boss is overrun with requests for her help (as well as short a manager) I do what I have to do in my own area and help the "new kid" with hers. This afternoon, knowing I was behind due to unforseeable circumstances, two of my fellow managers showed up in my area and asked what they could do to help. The boss turned up thirty minutes later (after she got herself caught up) and another of my coworkers arrived a bit later. We got five to six hours worth of work done in about ninety minutes.
Meanwhile, the manager who can be counted on the least struggled through on her own. There was a time when I would have had some sympathy for her.

I'm a big believer in karma, Rae.

And I know how hard it is to be the only person who cares about the people who work for you - without having any support from management above you. Good luck - you deserve a better job! Very Happy

I wonder sometimes about decisions people make about their restaurants. A neighborhood near my house already has about half a dozen Thai restaurants within a three block radius, but every new restaurant that opens up -- Thai food. As if people see the others there and say, "Wow. People in this neighborhood really like Thai."
