Right now I'm wanting a good prime rib, any good places that will handle a talking party? Of course, the meal is still 2 months away and time is ticking!

Those dates are now blocked in my Palm for this Gathering.

We will need not only dinner and conversation locations but a bit on lodging (if someone will take up the challenge).

I have planned a trip to Tucson around that time. On the Rand McNally site, the drive from Tucson to Austin takes 16 hours and is 893 miles. Hmmm....
It just might be worth it. Hope to see you all there.

Unfortunately, that week I am already scheduled as keynote speaker at a Canadians For Public Decency rally.

I think, Blatham that your recent experience in a Safeway Store may have solved your problem for you. Oh good, Blatham is coming too.

To clarify lola's reference...I was asked to leave the local Safeway store yesterday afternoon for shopping without a shirt. I inquired of the manager whether he was offended by my nipples.

This is great! The more the merrier!

Blatham, what did the Safeway manager say about the nipples? Did he blush at least?

As for lodging, I had a great experience with ExtendedStayAmerica in Austin recently. The current price on their website is $55. Maybe we could get a group rate? I will look into that and find out how many rooms we would need to book to get a discount.

Does anyone know of other possible hotels we should look into in Austin?

He thought my comment (along with my nipples) offensive..."You don't have to talk like that!" He tossed in, because he wasn't very bright, the classic "it's a health consideration." I demurred, because of course it isn't at all. One could peacefully mosey all around the vegetables in a tank top, dripping sweaty and odiferous the entire journey, and that would be just fine (in fact, there were likely 50 people there at the time apparelled in that manner). But, if one were to walk in wearing a long sleeved and high collared dress shirt BUT with little holes cut that one's nipples poked perkily out of, that would bring the manager and his team of hairy knuckled security boys around pretty quickly.

its probably the "perkily" part that got him all aquiver.

I'm aquiver just from y'all talking about it...

mac, your efforts will be appreciated (and rewarded in some fashion).

I'll try to provide some linkage over the next few days to points of interest, including lodging and dining. Others are invited to do the same...

My nipples are all aquiver with anticipation as I sit here. Cool

Maybe I ought to show them to somebody Twisted Evil

BillW, as I understand it, we have settled on the weekend of 10/10-10/12.

I don't think that y'all have finalized the mini-gathering/dinner that was discussed for late July/early August, have you?

Blatham,

I know, why don't you make an experiment of it? Perky nipples sound fun. I'm all aquiver myself. Nobody likes Safeway anyway. Let's boycott em!

My understanding, BillW is that the date is October 10-13. Is this correct still?

In Albuquerque we all stayed in the same hotel. That was fun. It made communications so much easier. And flexibility is the key in these gatherings for me. I like to pick and choose which activities I'll participate in and which not without being a party pooper. So let's plan some stuff, but let's hang loose too. ok?

For the mini-gathering/dinner we were looking at the last couple weekends in July or the 1st in August. Does anyone have a thought on the final date? We were looking to have dinner somewhere in Austin, so we need a final on location and time also!

Will consider 10/10-10/13 as a final decision for that one!

BillW, take your shirt off and run to your nearest Safeway store. Do they still have Safeway there where you are? Let us know the results. Maybe I'll do the same after awhile...........but, oh dear no Safeway stores anywhere about here. Too bad.

But I could walk down Bleecker Street without my top and no one would even notice. Such a jaded crowd out there on the city streets. Gotham it is.
